What is the best GPS double din headunit?

I have decided to get a Trail Edition 4Runner with basic stereo and add a double din unit with GPS.
Im looking for a unit that has most accurate GPS with trafic and road construction updates.

I have Android phone with Google Maps and it works great, and Navigon gps unit that has a mind of its own and it randomly likes to send me through small towns on a 300mile trips.

At this time my choices are;
Kenwood
Pioneer
Eclipse


So out of 3 brands which unit would you suggest based on my needs?
Is there a quality unit with Android OS so i can cont to use Google Maps?

I understand eclipse has stopped making head units so you can probably cross that off your list for an up to date map.

Did u check the settings on the phone's navigation? Both maps and nav are different i think, just make sure its up to date.

kenwood DNX 5190 or the Pioneer Avic-X940BT. Those are under a thousand bucks and solid decks. personally I like the kenwood better but they both good decks.

My phone NAV works fine, but i dont want to use it all the time. Screen too small and GPS eats the batteries too fast.

pioneer has a deck, cant remember the model number, but its called the app deck or something cuz you hook up a smart phone (might only be iphone, but cant remember for sure like i said) that should run your apps through the deck itself. seems pretty legit.

Ive never owned Kenwood or Pioneer products.

I have an eclipse avn 6610, i'm pretty happy with the price, updated disc says it was updated in 2012, not sure if plans to update further, I looked at the kenwoods just for the Garmin, but the start up time would drive me crazy from reviews i've watched. I'm sure none of this has helped.

Im used to Garmins slow boot up so thats least of my worries. GPS and NAV accuracy is most important to me.
I love Eclipse for their sound quality, but know nothing of their GPS. Do they update their maps frequently and are they accurate on long trips?

I have a Kenwood DNX9980, I like it because it uses Garmin.

I have always been a fan of Pioneer decks, and would love to get a new one to take advantage of the appradio features that many of them now have (iphone user), but I'm also a big fan of Garmin for navi, and the Kenwood uses Garmin navi on their decks. It would be between those 2 brands for me as well, and I'd have to spend some time online and in-store to make the final decision.

Either way, I think you're looking at the 2 best names in headunits right now.

The head unit in my wife's 2001 LC would not play CDs. I wanted a NAV/Media player unit. But the one I want was close to 1000 bucks. I picked up a Pioneer AVIC-X710BT, real cheap, but it does not fit my the LC dash. I ended getting a Sony CDX-GT700HD (single DIN) for the mean time. I'm quite pleased with it, especially for the HD Radio. I highly recomend any head unit should have HD Radio. Once I find a head unit for the LC, the Sony is going in my T4R.

Eclipse makes a reasonably priced Double DIN Tom-Tom Nav unit.

Check out www.sonicelectronix.com, they are just as good as Crotchfields, but better prices. Also All head unit come with brackets, harness adaptors and Dash kits, included in the price.
