I went with the struts offered by Gobi when I bought my ladder. They work amazing, just wish I had put the struts on prior to the ladder. Not that it's a tough install, but the ladder and the struts would have been easier to install if I had done the struts first. (I did it by myself)

Back gate rubbing on frame.
I picked up a couple new struts based on this thread and now I'm having an issue where the center area lip of the back gate (same lip the gobi ladder attaches to) is now rubbing on the door frame when opening/closing the gate.
I contacted Lift Support and they've never heard of that happening so I figured I'd reach out here. I went about a week with no struts when the originals died and had to open and close a handful of times, but other than that there wasn't any weird strain on the gate. I don't see how the struts would cause this problem. Only thing I can think of is that the door hinges bent a little somehow because the other weird thing about it is after installing the struts, the gate never felt/sounded like it was closing/latching correctly when closed but I'd pull up on the ladder to check and it would be closed.
Any thoughts?

I have a 14 4Runner, and i needed to convert to the straight ends. The dealer initially sent me the curved ones by mistake and i can confirm that it does not fit.

I can confirm the new part # fits, I just installed them last week. Bonus: They hold the hatch up even with a half filled Trasharoo attached!

We have a 2010 and I ordered the 6156 struts but I did not know about the convert to straight ends option when doing so. The top side (gas housing) has angled rod ends. I am sure they charge a re-stocking fee but I haven't opened them.
Ya. Can confirm these worked perfectly on my 2017. Really easy install... 5-10 minutes max. Just need a small flat head screwdriver and something/someone to prop open the lift gate. I've got the C4 ladder, which necessitated replaced the struts.

I have a Baja Racks ladder and still have the stock OEM lift struts. I got lucky I guess. It will drop and close when the tailgate is about one foot above the bumper, but it stays open once it's lifted.
