What is the most optimal balanced tire pressure?

I tried going up to 36 on my CTs over the winter, and found the truck bounced a lot more, like the shocks were bad. Brought it back down to 34 and the ride has been fine ever since. I didn't think just a couple of extra pounds made that much of a difference.

I was told yesterday by the technical support people @ Nitto Tires America that the correct pressure for the 285/60R18 nitto's on my 4runner is 26psi........is right 26-29 max.

Beats me...but they are the experts!!

As far as knowing what is the best air pressure to achieve the best handling, there is an old way to get pretty good results. Make sure the tires are up to operating temp, by driving the vehicle a couple miles. Adjust the air pressure in all 4 tires to OEM recommended pressure. Take a piece of white chalk and color a 3

As an aside to the thread, how do you like the Silent Armor tires?

I am considering them for my next set (along with the Revos and Pirelli Scorption ATR) - if these damn Michelin Cross Terrains ever wear out.! (I have 55K and still have lots of trea left)

I like the CTs for on-road/highway use but would like to have something better in winter as well as the mild - moderate off-road conditions we encounter during our camping excursions.

The Silent Armors have great reviews for off-road conditons as well as snow and ice traction but at the expense of mileage due to their weight.

Any complaints about the Michelin C/T's ? I was thinking that they would be my next set of tires
