What is this microphone/speaker under my driver's seat - 2016 SR5

Yup, aftermarket reverse alert system. I used to install them when I worked at a dealership.
IMO the installer was pretty sloppy and rushed the job. I see only two sensors wired to the control box and the beeper should be mounted somewhere easily accessible (i.e. the dash) so you can turn it off or change the volume.

It could be a fart sensor... does the rear window automatically roll down when you let one rip?

That's what I was thinking. Install secretly by the wife as a counter measure. Does the AC recirculator switch off upon flatulence along with rear window opening?

I agree. I'd be pissed. Especially looking at that butcher job of wiring. I'd be back at the dealer today. I know as long as they put a dealer plate on it and never title it they can sell it as new but the truck should be stock and not have a bad installed option. Was this listed on the window sticker?

If you like it keep it, if not remove it , send a polite note to the dealer that you are not thrilled about the non OEM part and messing with OEM wiring/bumper and ask for a free oil change or something but don't spend more then 5min on this and move on to more important things :bluejump:

It doesn't have any issues with it and I feel I got a really good price, so I have no complaints about it. Never even considered that it might have been from a bad deal and someone owned it before me. This was my first car purchase and I guess I just figured 700 was a normal amount for transporting it to the dealer.

As long as you are happy with it, no biggie!

For future purchases though, you can sometimes negotiate to have it transported instead of driven, which would have saved 250 miles or so. It costs the dealer more but can be negotiated. When i buy new, I usually wont take anything over 100 miles and am usually looking for less than 10. If i can help it, Ill take one off the truck.

Oh and its possible it wasnt a bad deal (just a guess since it was modified). Sometimes dealers let their employees take a vehicle for the week or weekend. Still something I avoid unless they're taking $ off.

If it was really new (no previous owner) bought from the dealer than your window sticker / deal sheet should show dealer installed options.

Maybe previous owner didn’t understand that it already had sensors? Maybe this system is smarter than the OEM? Buzzer is my guess.
