what is this piece on uca called?

Just had a toytec 3in lift installed and this seems broken on both sides and oozing.Its located on the upper control arm, on the bottom side. What piece is this? Is it an easy fix?

It's an upper ball joint boot. Did you install your lift or did you take it somewhere to be done?

Thanks that link helped. I had it done at a small shop I would rather not return to, its 30 minutes from me and my work schedule doesnt make things easy. Unless this is expensive, is it cheap to replace upper ball joints? is it an easy diy project?

Honestly, I don't know. I just installed my lift over the weekend and didn't separate the control arms from the knuckle. I think it's pretty common for those that do take this step to puncture the boot with a pickle fork.
Hopefully someone that's done this can shed some light on the process.

If the boot is punctured it needs to be replaced. I put a set of fj coils on mine a few weeks ago and messed up a boot on the drivers side on accident. They sell the boots separate from the ball joint. It comes with a pack of grease and new metal retaining ring. Around $20 if I remember correct. They do not have a grease zerk so you can't just add grease..

I would make the shop fix it if it were mine. Replacement ball joints are a pain in the ass to press out if you buy them separate from the control arm. When Toyota replaces a ball joint they replace the whole arm.

At least contact the shop that damaged the boots. Maybe you can offer to "meet them half way", ie you'll replace the boots yourself if they send you some new boot kits to install?
