What is your favorite inexpensive mod to your T4R?

Just curious to see what you guys think is the best inexpensive (Its all relative to what you define as inexpensive I suppose) mod you have done to your 4th gen 4Runner. These are those little mods that are so minor but generate so much use and enjoyment, aesthetic and or function.

Ill start, mine would be changing the license plate lights to LEDs, matches great with the HIDs and creates a slick look. Another thing would be hardwiring the radar detector I have, no more messy wires!

Of all the stuff I bought for my T4R, buying a cargo net was the most important - nothing worse than a jar of spaghetti sauce rolling when you open the hatch - the cleanup sucked!
Bought a cargonet the next day...

I agree with the LED bulb swap, however, I would expand it into a full LED swap. Still only about $20 for the entire interior as well as the license plate bulbs.

A great free mod is to remove the running boards.

+1 to the LED license plate bulbs! - It's fast, cheap mod that really makes your rig stand out at night.

I just installed LED tails (gonna post pics in it's own thread along with new tints this weekend), and that was a quick and painless mod as well, not too expensive either (not cheap tho, but got in on that amazing christmas sale w/free shipping) at $249 shipped from partznet.

On that note, window tints can be affordable as well and make the 4Runner look a lot better. I find my white 'runner's color really "pops" more with the dark glass - and blacked out runners look really slick too!

Get some decent quality license plate frames also, to make those bulbs shine, I got the chrome 4Runner plate frame from the dealer for just $20 on sale.

Although I haven't done it, some people also highly recommend powder-coating the rims, it's easy and really looks good on the right wheels!

Where did you find the necessary LED's for $20? Cost has been the ONLY reason I have not pulled the trigger on this mod.

You need a total of 8 194/168 bulbs for the doors, 2 map lights, and the 2 license plate bulbs. Then you need 2 of the 3022 festoon bulbs for the 2 dome lights.

It shouldn't be more than around the $20 range, depending what colors your get, and how many LED's on each bulb. Be careful with the map lights, no more than a 4-5 LED bulb will fit in there, since they have to be pressed on to turn on.

If you factor in a few dollars of difference, and shipping, it's probably more like 25-30 depending on the shipping method, and the different types of bulbs there are.

During the day, the overall appearance of my truck gets complimented, especially the tint and lift. At night, it's the LED interior and HID headlights that get all of the attention. I really recommend doing the full LED swap. $20-$25 is absolutely worth it.

$20? Man you must be using some cheap bulbs, where'd you get them? My swap cost over $100, but I used $30 dome lights.

Previous posts show where I got them from. Like I corrected, it was closer to $30, but still cheap.

Just to point out a few items that would directly affect you as an SUV owner:

You do realize that "The One" is pretty much in lockstep with those that would outlaw SUV's if they could? Don't you recall him stating that he wouldn't mind seeing the coal industry go bankrupt?

You do realize that "The One" favors higher gasoline taxes?

In a speech given in Oregon, "The One" said:

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added. "

broadway mirror 400mm, the one i got is 2x brighter so its made for tinted windows, also with this size u can see the whole tailgate window , i spent about 20bucks on this, its a saftey thing too since u dont get much blind spots anymore.

There's many good upgrades listed... My favorite cheap one has no 'bling factor' but helps the drive quality a lot (for the price). I love my swaybar bushings
