What is your favorite windshield solar shade?

I'm looking for a shade that fits snugly without breaking the bank. The typical fold-up ones are either too large or too wide, so I end up sort of breaking them apart while being used heavily. Thanks for your inputs.

Not cheap, but I just got one from Covercraft and I'm very impressed with the quality and fit. They said it would take about a month and a half because they're making medical supplies, but they actually shipped it in about 3 weeks. Overall 10/10, would recommend.

I have a Covercraft as well. It fits well and is rigid. I would have thought for a “custom fit cover” it would have been a better fit, but then it might be a lot harder to put up. Easy enough to use as is. It’s in stock here for the 4Runner and shows July 15th shipment.

Not cheap though for a sunshade but should provide many years. I also have one for my Subaru too.

The ones that POP open and then have to fold back up into that figure 8 are dangerous lol. And kind of a pain.

I got the covercrafts (or similiar) YEARS AGO. I want to say 10 years ago. Anyway, as you can imagine, it is starting to fall apart but is still functional. I will order a new one soon. But yes, this the best one hands down.

I bought an econour foldable sun shade. It fits well into the windshield and fold thin enough to fit between the seat and console. Plus it is only $16.

Does that one have insulation to reflect the UV? I can't imagine it contributes anything toward keeping the vehicle cool. Granted, you live in AZ so not much can be done in this regard!

In my experience, those flimsy popup deals do nothing toward heat insulation or UV reflection but these could be different, I dunno.

For anyone considering the Motorcraft one, realize it is thick, but folds multiple times so it can be stowed in the backseat or between the front passenger seat and door. It does a good job at keeping the inside relatively cool, but I got it to protect my dashboard. However, that was futile as mine is cracking (don't ask me how much that pisses me off, stupid factory defect). Even still, it provides almost 95% coverage. Mine lasted almost 10 years and my rig sleeps outside.

I got mine and holy cow, this thing ain't no joke. It's gonna last me ten years, unless i use it as a weapon or a baseball bat for some reason :biggrin2:

I've had Covercraft on my 4Runner for about 9 years now (got it for about $60 on Amazon back then). Have stuck with Covercraft for all 3 of our vehicles since then.

+1 on the covercraft covers. I have not yet gotten one for the 4runner but I have ran this on 2 previous vehicles and wouldn't recommend anything else from other ones I have used over the years. They are pricey, yes, but the quality and fit has been amazing and the results (at least I felt) were definitely better than some of the cheaper, thinner options.

I just bought the WeatherTech custom fit sunshade, a little pricy but not too bad. It seems good quality and rolls up with a velcro strap to keep it secured when not using. It also has a black side for helping warm the vehicle in the winter if you live in a colder climate. The only downside was it took them 2 months to ship it to me...

What sucks is I have one from Walmart that I bought 10 years ago for an S10 Blazer for less than 15 bucks. It fits my 5th gen perfectly and is still holding strong. In Florida it's a necessity plain and simple. Can't find one that fits decently for my 1st gen or my 4th gen. Cheap one I bought for the 4th gen works but I have to fold it and work it in, but it's pretty good quality. Bought a Dickies for the 1st gen, it's complete JUNK. Fell apart and shed all over my interior. You can see in my sig pic it was starting to fall apart then. As everyone knows, most stuff at china mart is mostly junk now, so I will have to order one from the interwebs for the 1st gen. She's in the garage for now. What pisses me off is you have no idea how well their built until you read reviews or just take the gamble and order one.
$60 to $100 for a sun shade? They proud of their shit.....value of a dollar just keeps going right out the window.

I have a HeatShield original for my 4r, in gold (just for variety) it's been 2 years and I'm still happy with it. although the covercraft does seem like it fits better, if solely because it folds instead of rolling.
