What kind of mpg?

I've only run a few tanks thru my 97 4wd but I'm driving really easy to get 15. I guess that answers my question on whether I need a tune up or not!

I was getting mid 18's with my old tires in the summer around town. Now I'm getting 17 with my new tires in the winter. I always get worse gas mileage in the winter.

I probably need to change my fuel filter and spark plugs. Bet I'd get better MPG then.

AFAIK most places have a winter blend of gas, that always yields less miles to the gallon.

What about CVT's?

99% of manuals will get better fuel mileage.(if you take the driver out of the equation.)

stay far away from CVT transmissions. In theory they seem like a good idea but do a little googling to see how much they suck. I had one in my audi and hated it and sold the car before I got stuck with the $4000 repair bill.

Audi's are expensive and not known for their longevity.

Here's my Gas Cubby analysis for the last 6 months and about 10,000 miles (99 4WD Limited).

Average = 19.96
Low = 11.62
High = 24.62

Obviously the lows are city driving, the highs are highway driving.

does gas cubby work good? like is it exact, off a little or off a whole lot? i have to jailbreak my ipod or update it to get this app. and how does it record it all for you? like the MPG and all i dont understand how it can do it

1997 Limited 4x4 auto w/186K. I just did some mpg checking on a recent interstate trip. Driving mostly about 70 mph on flat to rolling interstate between Nashville and Memphis.

312 miles from full to the low fuel light. My light comes on right when the needle starts touching the white mark at "E".

21.4 mpg

14.9 gallons to fill the tank back to full

It relies on you inputting data (gallons, cost per gallon, etc) and odometer reading every time you fill up. So, it only calculates the average per tank of fuel. It works even if you don't fill up all the way, but the calculations ultimately rely on datapoints where the tank is full.

This is what a completed entry looks like. There's actually another page or so of data that it collects every fillup.

So, ultimately the accuracy of the data depends on the accuracy of what you input manually. Garbage in, garbage out.
