What mods do you wish you had done sooner?

Same. I had an Edge and hated it. I couldn't fit very much in the hatchback area and the gas mileage isn't much better than my 4Runner. The wheels were big which made performance kind of suck, the tires were expensive and wore out quickly. switching to the 4Runner was the best car decision I've made in a while.

RAD Rubber engine side splash guards.
My 4R was nice and quiet for the first seven day trips in Spring 2018 but on our first trip to Utah later that spring it developed an obnoxious squeaky noise, only off-pavement, went away on pavement. Eventually, while rotating tires I noticed that the engine splash guards on the sides are flimsy and the driver side also a little loose. I tried to fix it and it kinda worked but not really well. Finally, I got the RAD rubber guards. We have only had one trip so far, but we did 100 miles over a variety of terrain with no more noises.

Hell yes, I absolutely LOVE my accessorides kit. I had a horrible experience with their competition's kit, but since I switched to the accessorides kit I've been super happy with the quality, zero issues. Definitely regret not spending the extra coin outright and getting it first

+1 on these! They also shipped mine with this really cool foam ball for marketing that my kids love. I met the owners of the company at a Florida Toyota’s for Tots event this past winter.. Really great company!

New owner... Just 2 days now so I can't comment on what I wish I'd done just yet.
The first thing I installed was spot mirrors. Next on my list is definitely a speaker upgrade... Sadly, it's just not a good sounding stereo.
After a quick day trip, the sluggishness of the fuel pedal became more and very apparent. The dealer installed a lift kit and 285/70/17 tires so after reading this thread, it appears a ring and pinion is also on the list of things to do early on.
I haven't driven at night yet but an HID kit is likely if it's as bad as others claim.
Aside from that, I'm happy with everything else. I chose this vehicle specifically because it's "featureless" so I'm not concerned about too much. I was really happy when the salesman handed me an actual key to slide into an actual ignition switch!

I wish I had installed USB charging ports on the left side of the steering wheel sooner. I usually cradle my phone in a RAM mount on the windshield (also use it for OBDII/Torque when on the trail) so it’s nice to be able to run a short USB cord straight to the phone, vs running it over the dash to the center console.

That’s what I thought too. The shop wanted to put 20% initially. The match is good and night time and day time driving is not an issue for me. I’d do it again.

Not sure who you're replying to, but I'm guessing my post? If so, the USB ports are holding up great. I opted for blue lights. Got it from AirOnBoard and it's a quality made housing. USB ports do not wiggle inside the switch housing when connecting or disconnecting a cable.
No issue with drilled holes, because it didn't require drilling. The factory blanks pop out, the functional switch pops in its place (You can see other switch blanks in my photo that could be used for future needs). Zero tools required, except for connecting the electrical wiring.
