Hello all, I've just ordered a lift for my '96: OME 881 coils with top out spacers and sport shocks for the front and OME 890 coils for the rear. OME shocks are a bit more than what I'd like to spend on the rear, so I'm interested in hearing what options other people have gone with. Brands, specific models etc. Thanks for the help in advance!

I think most people that opt out of the OME shocks in the rear go for the lc shocks or bilsteins
Thanks for the response. Is there a particular model of Bilstein that will accommodate the additional ride height? As for the LC shocks, those would be front shocks from what model Cruiser exactly? People mention 1995 frequently, but what 1995 model would I look for? I'm sure these questions have been answered in the deep bowels of the mighty forum somewhere, I just haven't been able to find it yet.

I recently bought a set of Rough Country N2.0 from Wheelers offroad. Ran them with the 890s for about a week or so before switching over to some 7.5 wraps. I personally would go with these or some LC shocks.
Ride was softer with the 890s than with my old worn out Gabriel shocks. But with the softer spring of the 7.5 wraps it's even smoother. They flex great as well.

No, you want rear LC shocks from a 1995. They are very long though, so you'd need extended bump stops to prevent them from bottoming if you ever stuff a wheel (ie. while offroading). Junk yard stops or Daystar extended would be fine.

I had the OME shocks paired with the 890's toytect offers. Just recently switched to the tokico black land cruiser shocks. They are a little long for the coil. During flexing it does allow the top of the coil to come loose, but i made a little spring retainer to fix that.
Also the drive-shaft coming in contact with the gas tank skid is a possible problem.

I couldn't even get my Rough Country Rear N2.0 shocks on my runner. :shrug:
Monroe Sensatrac are on my car now, but they're old and too squishy for my taste.
ETA: Wheelers shipped the wrong bushings with the shocks. I got the right ones from them not to long ago.

Thanks for all the helpful responses.. I'm thinking that Bilstein 5125s may be the shock for me. For those of you running rear 5100s, are you using Tacoma shocks and fabbing a top rear shock bracket to make them work? Or is there a 4runner 5100 I am missing somewhere? Thanks again!

I am also running 5100s and really like them.
I ordered mine with my BOSS lift kit from Toytec, they came with an adapter. Very well made.

RC N2.0 here with same coils as you. I like these alot, especially for the price. Ride is smooth, but with these front struts, you will get quite a bit of rake. You can't adjust the perch setting like the Bilsteins. Took my Runner off roading on some jeep trails last month. Held up really well. I'd def go with these if you want a cost effective option.

In short, i love them. I had to swap out the lower bushings which was pretty easy. I have them setup with the s10 blazer/bravada rear bump stops at full length.
They actually seem pretty well matched to the springs, and control rebound well even when loaded with a few hundred pounds of gear, which is exactly what i was after.

I am running the LC Tokico black shocks with my 890's. Great on road ride and cheap to get but offroad, they cannot even begin to keep up with my camburg 2.5 extended travel coilovers. When I start pushing hard through whoops, the back end tends to start bucking around quite a bit. Also, they are a very long shock. I had to keep my stock end links on my sway bar because with it disconnected, the coils become loose at full droop.
