I used green coolant.
The fluids are homogenous. Definitely not like oil and water....

please have somebody drain the tranny fluid lol the waiting is killing me
I have the tools in the 4runner. I am parked by 11N.

drain all ATF ASAP!!!!!!!! have somebody else do it if you can't, usually if you drain out all the fluid you should still be able to save the tranny.

I will see if I can find someone. Not a lot of technical people around.
Tranny is a lot better than cracked anything.
Seriously had I thought of it I would have just drained it in the parking lot. Tree huggers go suck eggs.

I'm hoping it is just ATF and coolant. If so the engine is probably fine but the tranny might have problems. Used trans can be found easier than full engines.
You could buy a whole wreck for $1500, take out the trans and part out the rest making back $1000.
Like T4R4Life said oil and water separate so you would prob be able to tell.

Honestly man, I know almost nothing about engines... I have a working theory of how they work (which has huge gaping holes), I know how to change the oil, and that's it...
So I don't know how to help engine wise. If I lived near your 'Runner, I would offer to go drain the tranny fluid. But I live at least 2,000 miles away...
So morale is all I can do right now. Take it one thing at a time...
Also, don't forget that our 4Runner's are BULLETPROOF. :ak472: :ak472:

The pic of Jons milkshake looks pink to me. I would think the only way for yours to be so brown looking is if your trans fluid is pretty brown/burned. It will be interesting to see which shake it is.
If the trans is okay it could possibly be the oil cooler but I've never heard of one failing like this yet. Always a first time I guess. Since it got so hot though, you may already have head issues.

Aww man I hope this is nothing to serious. Like over 1000 dollar serious. I'm sure you probably take care of your rig and maintain it properly. Just sometimes with machines anything could go wrong. Kind of reminds me of my roadtrip when I had car trouble thinking it was something really bad. Hopefully yours is relatively minor as well.
