What to do with a 2wd

Got a nice 1999 SR5 2WD, I do lots of camping, want it to look good, so far I've done 16" rims and tires, blacked out front grill, deck plate mod, weather tech bug deflector and side window deflectors, window tint up front, wicked flow muffler, Hella high performance Xenon blue bulbs. Next will be a Baja Rack, fender flares, weather tech mats, and some wet okole seat covers. Thinking about a small lift just to make it look a little more like the big brother 4WD's. Any advice/suggestions would be a big help on this 2WD build.
:thanks:

Everything you've done looks good! I've always liked the storm trooper look! Go cheap since it's 2wd...some 2inch poly spacers. throw them in yourself. should look sweet!

Heres a pic of my 2WD-put on a lift and tires last summer. I'd like to tint the windows and I'm going to take the running boards off when it gets nicer out.

ur chrome is sooo shiney...and the black is soo black..and the white is nice and white. looks good . i think roof cargo basket would make it look Badass, maybe tail light guards and a brush guard with lights mounted on it

any recommendations on a good set of spacers, never thought of it as storm trooper, that's great.

Thanks! Yea the running boards are coming off when the weather breaks. Its rusted out really bad underneath them so I've gotta do some touch up work before I'll cruise around without them! lol

How much do you off-road? What about a winch, locker etc?

IMHO 1st money should be spent on a good strap and the hardware so you can hook it up from the front or back. Next up would be the spacer lift, after that I may or may not look for a locker for the rear diff.

If you spend anytime on the trail I'd put an aux transmission cooler on. They're cheap and without low range you're working the converter pretty hard (making the fluid hot). I'd get one that's pretty big and bypass the in-tank radiator cooler as 3rd gens have a nasty habit of making a pink milkshake.

Your ride looks great so far! Nice job:bigok:

thanks Chris that was alot of really good info !!!! I've only got 98000 on my 4runner so I'll have a long time to fix it up. :dancin:

nice 4runner so far and well personal thought but a 2wd can be just as good as a 4wd... doesnt have to have 4wd to look sweet and lifted... thats y mudding in groups is safer/better and they invented winches. haha well u can see my ride in my sig but i have a 3" OME lift and im running 33's though i do want to get a body lift and run 35's later down the line.

Hairtumor, What did you use to paint your rims? Or were they powder coated? Also, what is the finish...flat, satin, gloss etc...
thanks

hey did you need spacers for your rims?

Im not currently running them but i can say they did rub the skid plate at full crank before the alignment but now they dont rub on the skid plate or the upper a-arm though it is close (appx. 1/4" or less)

Ive been debating on getting some 1.5" spacers all around to ensure they dont once i can get some new tires and to give it a wider stance though i dont NEED them currently.

hey did you need spacers for your rims?
