What transmission fluid? I searched...

All,

I have a 2003 4runner SR5 V8. I noticed that all of the threads relevent to transmission fluid mention a sealed tranmission. My 03 has a dipstick, so it appears to be an earlier one. What type of fluid do I need?

I'm having the 35mph rumble strip issue, and I'm hoping a drain and refill might help a bit. Thanks!

I believe what our 03 4Runners need is Toyota Type T-IV automatic transmission fluid (ATF).

They changed the ATF specifications in 2004.

Toyota Type IV ATF (or anything that meets Type IV ATF specifications) like [MENTION=26691]Bossman[/MENTION] stated for non-sealed (dipstick) 4th gen transmissions.

If you pull the dipstick out on the metal blade near the MIN & MAX marks Toyota stamped what the fluid requirement is into the metal.
