What type of locks do you use?

I feel like its about time I invest in some decent locks around the house and for padlocks to secure my gear.

I have a bunch of cheap Master Locks from Home Depot or Lowes over the years I learned how easy it is to bypass these things with little to no skill.

I want to buy something respectable... I wanted to get some recommendation.

I see a large gamut of options which can get pretty high in price but trying to find something that offers a good mix/value between cost and security.

I did come across those and they looked pretty good. I just bought one to test along with one from ABUS that looks decent. Both offer models where you have interchanges cores so you can key up to different things including your house keys.

I came across some super high end stuff too but I think its a bit overkill for my needs... Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Abloy make some pretty slick looking gear.

Medco is nice with the double cut key but expensive.

I prefer Schlage. I installed and keyed them for my house with a smartlock at the front door so you don't even need the key. They also have padlocks that can be keyed alike. They are harder to pick and I happen to have the tools at work to rekey them.

Medeco is very high security.
I went with Schlage too, better than Kwikset.

Kwikset is what I have right now, very convenient but they don't seem to last from what I read. I think some of the videos on YouTube about their older products made me a bit uneasy about the brand but I read the current versions don't have the same problems.

Schlage seems pretty solid, well supported and even repin doesn't look complicated to DIY... apparently they have their own line of high security stuff too under the Primus line. Schlage Primus or Schlage Everest Primus which actually cost almost as much a Medeco.

I like that their Primus keys are backwards compatible with a regular Schlage cylinder. After looking at some of those high security brands... pretty temping to try it out.

Seems like another you get what you pay for item.
