What wheel offset will stick out 1.5” further?

I’m in the market for new wheels, so I’ve been reading and reading a whole lot of threads about wheel offset. Everyone explains what wheel off set is which I get and understand. I need a more straightforward explanation in what offset will stick out further than OEM. I have the Limited 5 Star wheels. Offset on them is 15mm.

I’m currently running 1.5” spacers and the stance is perfect imo. I’m looking to get the Level 8 Mk6 16x8 rims. How much further would 0 off set in these rims put me out than OEM. I can get the 0 off set in those cheaper so that’d be nice if it’s more than an inch. But will the -10 offset be where I need them? Thanks!

Found this in 2 secs. Check out the "Aftermarket Wheel Thread". Plenty of guys running those wheels in different offsets with pics & discussions. Going from a 7" width to a 8" gives you an inch right there. The extra width is always on the outside for obvious reasons. (UCA's etc)

Ive already read all through that. But you can’t tell from the way people take pics if it’s 2” further or an inch. Also mines a limited. So even if it sticks out well for them it might not be enough for me with the big flares.

There used to be a thread where discount tire commented and gave all numbers vs stock but it got deleted. It was very informative but I couldn’t remember if it was -10 or 0 that gave 1.5” further than stock.

I know it seems a little ridiculous because they’re probably pretty close. But I’m a perfectionist and don’t want something that’s not going to satisfy me with the way it looks

All thing equal, including offset (except 1” wider wheel), it would stick out an extra 1/2”, not 1”? I’m sure that’s what you meant, just wasn’t clear for me.

This is correct. Offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel, so if the offset remains the same, then the wheels would stick out 0.5" more in each direction from the hub face.

The factory16x7 wheels have an offset of roughly +28.5. Indeed, 1.5 inches further out would thus require an offset of -10.

However, by adding an extra half inch to the external wheel width, to achieve your desired stance you would need a 0 offset (~1.6" further to outer edge) or +5 (~1.4" further further to outer edge).

Of note, this does not account for any tire bulge.

Also, FWIW, am effectively running exactly that: 16x8s with 0 offset (4" BS), wrapped in 285s.

Would it be dumb to get 2 that are -10 and 2 that are zero?

On most every vehicle, the track width is usually about .5 to 1" narrower in the rear (which applies to the 3rd gen as well). I honestly don't have hard data indicating qhy this is a commonly-engineered feature, but I know lots of folks have added custom wheels that "correct" these dimensions to equalize them who also report zero handling issues.

So, that said, I see no issues with getting slightly more negative offset (less BS) in the rear.

I guess it’d be fine until you have to rotate tires . I think i May just go with the 0 offset.
