what would you pay for this 01 4runner sport

The person selling it is about five hours away from me.I dont think they have maintince records and he said he would take 8300 if I drove all the way out to him and 8600 if he meets almost halfway.Its got 10600 miles and it my fav color for the runner (except green).Doesnt know about timing belt He has to ask his last family member who owned it!!!Heres some pics and is it a good deal?

I know the guy isnt really fast about getting back to me.Lets say the belt and pump havent been changed,what would you pay.Im getting really antsy ive been glued to craigslist for weeks and havent found anything worthy .

If he doesn't know if the timing belt and water pump have been replaced, I'm going to go ahead and assume they haven't been. It looks pretty clean from the pics, but I would be concerned about the rusty undercarriage. Any pics of the interior and engine bay? Personally, I would try to talk him down a bit more since you're going to have to put money into this one right away.

Assuming no major maintenance has been done AND assuming it's never been hit, I'd call it $7500 if he meets you halfway.

well boys wouldnt you know it,craigslist made a lier out of me.Going to look at a black 02 4runner sport auto 4x4,its a one owner and timing belt has been changed.he says 7500 is the lowest he will go,which for my area is a great price.He has some maintinance records but he does all the work himself.Its only an hour away and hes saying the car is accident free and is sending me the vin#.he says two years ago he got the strawberry milkshake of death but the dealer flushed it and the trans has been working properly ever since.he says theres a few door dings and stone chips on the hood have begun to rust a tiny tiny bit!!Is the truck worth it?he wont go lower because of what the dealer is offering him on trade!

If the trans hasn't gone bad after two years you're probably okay. And personally I think you're better off buying from someone who is an enthusiast like this guy. If it checks out, give him $7500 and call it a day.

I had the stawberry milkshake two years ago. The dealer flushed the heck out of it and it still drives like new today. Just wanted to let you know they can be saved if flushed quickly.

The other one could be a good deal too (that's pretty low mileage), but it is due for a timing belt and if he doesn't know, it probably hasn't been done. As mentioned before, $7500 is a good price for the silver one. $7500 for the black one is good as long as the mileage isn't crazy (I'd say less than 125k as a line in the sand).

says theres 118000 miles,I hope the tranny doesnt take a dump on me.He says hes able to show it to me friday so we will see.

well boys the vin checks out and is clear.He says theres others interested but I convinced him to let me get the first stab at it...He even says theres a catback exhaust on it :lookout: pee dribbles out everytime I think about it :banana:

well guys I backed out of buying in fear that it may need a transmission soon becase of the pink milkshake.He said it happend at 89000 miles and it has 116000 now and he says shifts fine but i decided against looking at it when I seen the prices of 2002 transmissions.Then I got a few quoteson rebuilds and most were over 2 grand.I may just wait untill I find a standard.

I'd would love to have a 3rd Gen again. My dream 3rd Gen would be a 2002 Sundries Red Sport edition 4x4. Say one yesterday and just about cried because it wasn't mine.
