If those are bushwhacker style then there was no drilling into the body to put them on, so I'd get them off of there asap since they'll rub into the paint eventually.


But really, you stole that thing, even got the badass SR5 Vertigo seats.

I'll double check, but I am pretty sure this model flare required drilling. If not, I will yank them in a heartbeat. Not a fan at all.

And now it’s my 1985 4Runner! LOL I was searching around for some rear to front leaf swaps and I came across this oddly familiar black 85’ 4Runner. I saw the paint job and the bully side steps and was like THATS MINE! Now I realize you’re the guys I bought it from. Crazy. Oh and by the way. I know you didn’t know because you obviously had never removed them but those fender flares were adde before paint and were hiding some serious rust. Also frame towards the front was rusted in a bit as well as the drivers floor board. ALL OKAY THOUGH! I’m getting to it. Been holding on to it waiting to get into a house with a work area and it’s happening in the next week or two! Going to do all the metal repairs, give it a proper re-paint, do some leaf spring swapping (Chevy 63” and rears up front), give it 4.88 in the front, and do a deep clean on the interior!

You have a great attitude about what you found under the fender flares
That is pretty bad rust but also pretty common for people t use flares to camouflage crap like that.

Hey bud! You found me! Man. That really burns me on the rust under the fender flares. I guess I should have suspected something was up. Will know next time.

Dude the ride with those boggers was downright disgusting.

I like your plans. I looked at the Chevy spring swap, but fabbing up spring mounts is out of my league and paying someone to do it was not in my budget. Best of luck with the build. Be sure to post up your progress on here so others can oogle.
