Hey everyone, trying get an idea of what this 4runner is worth. I’m looking for REAL opinions on market value, what you would expect to sell it for if you owned it. If your a cheap SOB (let’s face it most of us on here are) and can’t give accurate helpful feedback don’t take up space on this thread.

The owner doesn’t know much about these rigs but wants it to go to someone who takes care of their cars so asked me to help out.

It’s a one-owner, garaged ‘98 limited that never left pavement. Has 113k, is BONE stock and one of the cleanest 3rd gens I’ve even seen before. Unlike most of our 4Rs, this one has a left suspension lean (drivers side) because the owner was a large individual. There is one very small ding in the driver door and a couple small scratches on the bumpers/flares. You would have to look very hard to see these. Compared to other rigs this age, it’s flawless. The driver seat has wear in it but not as bad as a lot that we see and hear about on this forum. Basically, this thing is as mint as they come and has zero modifications.

I was considering buying it myself but I’m already involved in a love affair with my ‘99 SR5... so there is very good chance I can act as a go between for someone interested in buying this Limited 4R.

Specs:
1998 Limited 3.4L V6 AT 4x4
Factory Rear Locking Diff
Dealer option OEM fog lights
Natural white w/ silver trim
Oak (tan) interior
Gold Badging
Everything works
All original

No viewable pics = $4000. Just post it 'somewhat' high and see what bites.

You Know you can always come down.....but....

Low mile car in a dry climate will bring top dollar. I wouldn’t worry too much about 20 year old consumable parts hurting the value.

Hey guys, sorry about these pics not uploading!! I resized them and made sure they were jpegs and was able to view them after uploading last night but now nothing?? Please forgive my ignorance here.

I’m going to get on my computer to upload instead of using my phone and see if that works.

Thanks for the feedback so far

Man, these kinds of T4R's are getting harder and harder to find and many know what great (and solid) cars they are.

A little patience and the right ad, and me thinks 10+ grand all day long.

Get those pix uploaded or use dropbox (or the like) so a better valuation is possible.

Good luck,

Eddie

P.S. I did not vote since my estimate was not represented. Also, look on autotrader.com for 3Gs and you'll see crazy high prices for cars similar to this one.

OK I'm uploading these pics from my computer and they're all jpegs under 150kb's so it should work. Let me know if they're still unviewable.

PICS AVAILABLE THROUGH SHUTTERFLY LINK ABOVE, link also added to bottom of OP

Shutterfly link provided! Check bottom of original post. Thanks for the feedback, I was originally thinking around 8k but after looking at Bring-a-trailer.com, an almost identical 4R w/ 120k mi went for $10,500 a month ago... holy smokes

I paid 7200 for my 175k mile 2000 limited elocker jade mica about 2-3yrs ago. Also have heard of many others paying more/same for similar 4runners. (Northern Cali)

I paid 6k for mine. Got it at 200k with no locker, stock and excellent condition. This was in Southern Cali too and i feel like i got a great deal. With how low your miles are i think youd be able to get 8/9k easy. Might just take a minute to find a buyer who appreciates 4runners and is willing to pay that much.

I voted 8K-9K, but agree with those that said it could be higher. Maybe run it for 11K or 10,5K and settle for 10K or 9.5K.
Then only drag for the 4WD crowd are the 15" wheels. That means regearing if you want to run 31s. Reasonably complete maintenance records help, as you know.

Thanks that’s great info. You just made me think of a great thread topic (unless it already exists here) where we can post brief descriptions of our runners and what we paid for them. I bought my 99 SR5 Blue Hrzn Metallic in 2019 @ 158k mi for $6400. Interior is a 9.5/10 and the outside is clean except for a large dent in the hatch. Need suspension work, new wheels/tires and some preventative work. It’s an Idaho car and had some surface rust here and there on undercarriage

Yeah that sounds like a good deal being in excellent condition I just talked my coworker into buying a super clean stock 97 w/ 287k mi for $4000 even. The original owner was an engineer and took meticulous care of it so I think he got a screamin deal

Thanks what I’m thinking now, post it around 11 and see what we can negotiate to.

That’s the first I’ve heard of having to regear a 15” to run larger tires?? Is that just because of poor acceleration?? Or can that cause mechanical issues with the rear Diff? I’m guessing there’s threads on this, I have to go check it out now
