Yep what it's worth to an insurance company and what it's worth the a private buyer(or your 3 year old neighbor) are going to be completely different.

From the prices around here, I'm gonna go with $7500-$8,500 easy.

Side note: My insurance company thinks my truck is stock, and I pay the premium for a stock truck. In the case of any issues, I have tons of receipts and pictures that any adjuster could confirm. Makes the process of adjustment slower, but it beats paying a higher premium monthly. It worked that way in the past for another vehicle of ours.

Yes he could absolutely sell that truck for 7-8k here. Especially since 5 speeds are rare, and even rarer are 4WD 5 speeds. 1 Owner? Lockers? Yeah, $7500 easy.

My insurance normally goes off book, but them, if it's totaled, I only get book. They are allowing me to come up with a value, as long as I provide evidence for that price, Craigslist sales, Racerunner's selling his rig, stuff like that.

Save all your receipts to show what you've done. It will still probably be limited (my American Family policy will only pay something like $1000 for add-ons) but at least you'll have something to argue with.
