Whats this for?

I was just under my bumper test fitting a new set of fogs and saw this connector. I can't rest until I know what this is for, it just means for me that something should be there that I don't have!!!))) its the black connector on the driver side right beside the fog connector.

I think that white connector is for the fogs, I have the same one on the passenger side or am I wrong? This black one is only on the driver side.

I actually just noticed the same connector on mine as well when I was wiring some Hella's on the front bumper. Only on the drivers. Would be cool to know what it goes to.

Pretty sure it's for the outside temp sensor for the Automatic Climate Control system on Limited trim levels.

Oh nice. I need to get that sensor for my FMU. Any idea where the wires are under the dash? I could just tap into them and not feed new wires through the firewall. I imagine they would be somewhere near the heater controls.

So, If i'm not mistaken, that is the plug that connects the harness to the daytime running light control module. The module is located next to the battery in the engine compartment, but when it is dosconnected the harness can fall into the area behind the bumper on the drivers side. Mine hangs in this exact place on my 2000 4runner. So tell me, do your DRLs come on? If so, i'm wrong. But if they don't, its probably that.

I cam across this question while looking for some info about strut mounts (totally random side track). I actually signed up just to answer this question, because i know how nuts it makes me when I dont know what a random plug is for on my 4runner.... haha

On my 02 the DRL module is under the dash, just above the OBD connector. So its not it.

Yeah, I was guessing at what year 4Runner you have. It's the same plug shape and general location of mine. The DRL module was taken out of the engine comparment in 01-02. I wish I knew what it was in your case. Good luck!

The drl module is under the dash near the center console. The drl resistor is to the left of the battery box from the driver's seat. The drl harness to/from the resistor should have a tie down on it, so there's no way it could reach near the fog lamp harness plugs.

It's your outside temp sensor for climate control.

Does anybody have a wiring diagram or know how I can trace this to inside of the dash? I'm going to buy the sensor from toyota to use with my FMU.
