Whats Your Gas Mileage?

A friend of mine gets 22mpg+ out of a 3.4 with 4wd.


It is all about driving style and maintenance

^Truth. I coast a LOT and I can really tell it in my mileage.

I use synthetic oil, probably have the stock plugs, stock fuel filter, deckplate, K&N, Vortex. Not sure if any of the above effect my mileage a significant amount.

what kind of tires?

that can make a significant difference.

I dont know what i get. I dont bother to calculate it cause i dont want to be depressed. I'd imagine its not very good with the bumpers and tires. The most miles i can get on a tank is around 240-250 and when it was stock i was getting over 300 miles on a tank.

Same as me. When it was stock I would get 320+ miles out of a tank. Now I'll get 250 because of the lift and tires. I don't mind...gas is cheap again. :biggrin2:

Also remember to factor in mileage diff with bigger tires but with 265/75s it's only a 3% diff. I get 240-250 corrected with mostly suburban city type driving which ends up being 16-17mpg which is right where Toyota rates the 3rd gen's city mpg.

I got 19 on my last tank of gas... 50% highway 50% city... I drove relatively slow compared to my typical driving style. I'm gonna cut back on my right foot usage and see how good I can get. :bigok:

Cool let me know how it goes. If you would like to know some tricks to getting better milage just pm me. Best Ive gotten was just over 24mpg on a tank and that was half highway and half city.

Just got my car on Friday. Drove it from PA down to GA and got 21.6 mpg on the first two tankfuls. Almost 100% highway miles.

'99, 69k miles, older generic 265/70 tires, 4wd, 3.4

Was hoping for a bit better, but oh well. My 5.7L tundra gets 20mpg when it's all highway miles!

SC'd 2wd 265/70/16 tires and I get 16-18 primarily city driving. I'm quite pleased with the mileage I'm getting.

Same as you, 3.4! I have gained more mpg by changing my fluids so I am curious to see if that has changed as well.

Nice... If the weather is nice and sunny ill get about 25 on the highway. If its raining ill get about 22. My highway mileage is about 19 mpg if I go 70.

I get about 260 to a tank, so about 14 mpg assuming minimal use of 4WD and AC. I have the 3.4. No mods.

I did once manage 300 to the tank when I drove mostly highway.

I just filled up again, all city. got about 18 MPG. I'm going to start shifting into neutral more and coasting as much as possible.

I think shifting into and out of neutral a lot with an auto tranny is harmful.
