Do wheels swap between Gen2 and later T4R's?

I've been tire shopping, and some of what I'd like to buy do not come in 31x10.5x15. I'd like to maintain the 30.5 to 31 inch overall diameter.

The later trucks run larger wheels, which would open up some more tire sizes/brands/models.

Is wheel fitment written down somewhere?

6x5.5 will fit Chevy some dodge and all 6 lug Toyota. It's a common bolt pattern and you will easily find something that fits but you will have to get the right offset to make it work with your truck.

Hey thanks for the reply, and my apologies for not being more clear, but my question was more about offset and backspacing than bolt pattern. Bolt pattern is easy.

For example, do stock gen3 wheels bolt on to a gen2, clear the brakes, and provide the same tire track? Gen4? Gen5?

Specifically, I'm looking for something like a 16x7 or 16x8 wheel that clears everything and has offset and backspacing to provide the (or nearly...) track as the stock wheels. I'd like to be able to run a 255/75/16 or 265/75/16.

I would lean towards 17" wheels because 15-16" are getting used less so the tire cost is going up.
I know spencer on here had 4th gen taco 17" wheels in his 87 4Runner and it cleared what he needed but it set in so much I looked weird. Easily remedied with whelk spacers. Just look up the the stock offset and compare.

Im pretty partial to my Sequoia wheels, 17" rim, same backspace, same track, cheap and easy to get. This is with 33's and gently cranked torsions and 2" rear OME springs

Again apologies for being unclear, but what I've been trying to ask is where can I look up the stock offsets and widths for various years and models? I was clearly having a bad brain day when I wrote the original post, again, my apologies. I understand what everything means, and I know what I want to know, I just can't find it.

I've done a bunch of searches, and some found bits and pieces, but nothing comprehensive. For example, I've found some nice specific Tundra stuff, some gen3 stuff giving ranges, etc., but no comprehensive data. I'm beginning to think that there is no comprehensive data.

What I'm looking for is rim diameter, width, and offset by year and model for any or all Toyota trucks and 4runners.

It's nice. The stock wheels on my gen2 say 15x7 offset 8. Cast into the wheel. I'm looking for that data for other models and years. Anyone know if it exists in one place?

the center bore on some chevy rims will not clear toyota hubs with out a 2" spacer..


Some later model toyota rims may have clearance issues with the caliper due to offset. 5 minutes with a jack and lug wrench always confirms or deny issues.

I really wish i had kept the rims off my old '05 tacoma, they would have looked cool on my 94 project. Finding a set of cheap 15 tires to get me by for a few months until i do my SAS was a PITA. having a set of 16 or 17's would have made life easier..

I apologize for the thread hijack, but I have a related question, and do not have thread starter privileges (haven't been on here on a long time.) I drive a 2007 4Runner SR5 with the ugly peeling 16" "alloy" OEM wheels that Toyota refused to recall because the problem wasn't a safety issue. I'm pretty frugal, and have just ignored the issue rather than spend significant bucks for replacement wheels. However, I am about to replace tires, so I thought I'd do a quick cl search for "Toyota wheels" just for S&G, without really expecting much. I found a local listing for 4 ea Mickey Thompson Classic wheels in 16 x 8 that (so claims the ad) were removed from a 2014 Tacoma, for $100 total. 2 questions, if I may. First,are the Tacoma Gen 5 wheels an exact fit replacement for the 4Runner Gen 4? Second, are the M-T Classic wheels considered good quality, and is there anything about them that I should watch out for in this application? Thanks very much in advance for any guidance you choose to provide.

Yes they do. See my photo in 235/75r/15 thread nearby, if you like. I'm running the 16" Gen 3 wheels on my 1990 4Runner.

FWIW, sometimes there are issues with the center hub cap filling. I put the 17" sport wheels from a 4th gen onto my 2nd gen with automatic locking hubs. The center caps don't fit over the locking hubs, so I have the caps on the rear, but not on the front.
