Wheel Offset and Tires

This may have been covered before, but I cant seem to find the exact answer I'm looking for in all the big tire/wheel threads.

I have a 2011 sr5. I am swapping out the stock wheels (17x7, +12 offset) with TRD wheels that are 17x8 w/ 0 offset.

I'm looking at getting new tires that either match the stock size (265 70 17) or 255 75 17. Will both of these tires work on the new wheels without rubbing? My 4runner has stock suspension, no lift.

I'm guessing those are the FN Pro wheels?

Anyway with that setup you'll have 4.5" of backspacing which is great. Either tire size should work fine.

Now hopefully this thread will close peacefully and just drift into the vast pages of yesteryear....or maybe not :snacker:

Thank you for answering without judging ! I searched all the threads, came to my own conclusion, but still want confirmation. In my opinion, that's what these type of forums are all about.

I've done incredible amounts of research on this topic for my own edification, and the real answer to your question, is a definite "maybe!"

Toyota provides more clearance in the fender opening at the port to prevent rubbing on the PROs. That is with the PRO wheel and standard 265-70 R17 tires. But that wheel is also 17x7 with a +4mm offset.

So, even if you don;t rub under normal conditions, you will be close, and under more rigorous conditions, may rub.

Si, be prepared to provide more clearance .. if necessary.
