wheel offset??

Im sure its been covered but since i have never before posted and have been a member for a while i figure that you should know i have been looking for the info before this post.

what i would like to know is if the offset (backspacing) is the same from the factory split spokes that are on my truck in the pic to the taco wheels in the other pic?

seems like alot of writing i know, but i am not writer. somebody has to have the info, i would like the wheels to have about the same offset.

The wheels will move in more. You can get those and get some 1" or 1.25" spacers to push them out more. What size tires are you planning on getting?
 
@ 5 1/4" back space the wheels will definitely hit the calipers and when I say hit, I mean you'd have to really grind away 3/8" of the caliper face at the least to clear the wheels..which is silly and not to mention dangerous.

^x2 on the wheel spacers if you really want the rims on your truck..might I suggest Spidertrax if you go that route?
 
I'm not sure they will rub though. Champ1415 had those and I'm not sure if he used spacers. Regardless you are going to want some spacers to look better and run bigger tires.
 
what im trying to do is what i shoulda done along time ago, i need a set of rims for my summer tires considering that i have my winters mounted right now. the tires i run in the summer are 265\75r16, so i dont want the taco rims if they are going to be more inset than the factory wheels. is the offset on the 1st gen tacos rims the same as my runner?
 
thanx for the fast reply, i did find a set of 16's from a 1st gen taco that are the same as my stock rims, just waiting to hear back from the guy as to whether they hold air and are round. they arent in great shape but i have awhile before i need new tires so i dont want to spend money where i dont need to, cause most of the time they are covered in mud or snow anyways.

My old aluminum wheels had the same back space on them and I had a terrible time fitting them no matter how much caliper grinding I did, and it got to the point where I needed to replace it with a used one because it looked unsafe.

....the difference could very well be the way the wheel spokes are configured on those old wheels, that's why I said atleast more than 3/8" is required to be taken away. \might not be as bad on the Tacoma wheels.
 
Just make sure those are 16's. Some of the split 3 spokes came as 15" rims. Otherwise just throw some spray paint on them and you'd be good to go.
 
yeah the add says 16, i will phone they guy closer to the date that i will going that way. the rims are 4hrs away, so who knows if he will still have them then
 
Cranbrook BC Canada, lol. the problem is that every year i have paid $200 to get my tires swapped over and back again, and we are going that way anyways.
 
well ok, deal fell through. i guess the guy didnt want to sell them to me cause it was a sunday. oh well. so here i am and in need of some wheels before the swapout in spring. can anybody tell me where i can get some factory wheels for cheap, and reasonably close to me. i live in BC Canada and really close to kalispell and coeur d'alene.
 
no, they were 16's the person selling them said. i have summer tires that i run and are in great shape so i just want rims to put them on. i would like to see a full pic of these wheels on a 3rd Gen if i could find one, been looking with no luck.
