wheel size question

i have a 2005 limited 4wd so the stock wheel is 17". can i put 16" wheels along with a 285/75/16 tire, because i was told that 16" wheels wont fit on the calipers

Not 100% sure but I believe that is correct depending on the yr/model. I'd have to look it up.

Why not stay with 17s and get 285/70/17? Same overall size just different rime size.

well the 16" wheels are like $30 bucks more in the model that i want. wouldnt mind saving like $150 and the tires are just a bit more expensive. as you can tell, i am short on cash lately!
