Wheel Spacer Question

With a 3inch lift and procomp 7069's (4" BS and -12mm offset) and 285 BFG KM2's.

Will I need wheel spacers? Are wheel spacers just for looks and better fitment? I've been reading threads all over the forum but haven't been able to come up with any answer. Thanks in advance for any advice

With a 285, you will have some rubbing on the fenders. With a 4" backspacing wheel, you probably wont rub on the upper control arms (fronts by the upper ball joint). The space with a 285 on a stock wheel (with a BS of 4.65" is close, sometimes they rub and others don't).

Wheel spacers will increase your width for looks and space IF the tire rubs the UCA. Wheel spacers will usually cause more rubbing when turning the front wheels due to an increased arc (on the fenders).

Most people also run a 1" bodylift with 285s. This is due to the needed space when fully stuffing wheels.

4" backspacing and 8" wide wheels with 285s are the sweet spot on these trucks. You wont rub the UCA, and with very minimal bumper and pinch weld trimming you will not rub at all offroad.

And more backspacing and you rub the UCA, any less and you really run into the bumper sides and pinch weld.

If you can get them in 8.5" and a -6 offset, you may not need to trim anything. That's what I'm running, and haven't needed to do anything. Went off road last week and had no rubbing at all. There is a chart with this thread that is pretty helpful.
