Going to put on a set of 17x9 Ultra Hunter 203 wheels after I do a 3" suspension lift. It has a positive 12 offset with around a 5" back spacing-I can't remember exactly. My question is that I want to have the rims sit out a little for a more aggressive stance but nothing crazy. Would a 1.5" spacer be okay? Im going to use one that's lug centric also. If 1" is better im okay with that. I know it will possibly effect my wheel bearings so that's why I'm not doing anything drastic. My goal is to have it stick out about 1/2-1" outside the fender flares.

I run 1.5" spacers with moderately offset wheels and I have never had any issues. I've heard horror stories about spacers, but have yet to have any bad experiences and I wheel mine pretty hard. My 2 cents is if you do much offroading, only use the spacers if you need them to avoid any tire rubbing while turning, if you are just doing it for looks and primarily stay on pavement, you should be just fine. Make sure to hit the lugs on the spacers with some locktight so you don't have any surprise loose lugs.
Obviously the spacers with an offset wheel will add to the stress on wheel bearings and other components. But I think if you check things out regularly and ok with some added wear and tear then chances are you'll be ok.

These are -12mm offset wheels with 1.5" spacers up front and 1" spacers in the rear. If your +12mm then yours would essentially be 24mm further in than these pictured.. Tire size will play a small role but not much.

Sorry for not giving the tire size. However changing gears to get the negative offset. I'm going to go with Ultra Hunter 203's black with machines accents which are a -12 offset and wrap them in 275/60/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Still makes 33" tall and 11" wide after inflation...at least that's what's on Nitto's website. That should bring them out about 1.5" from what both vendors tell me. Anyone else run a similar combo, love to see what they look like?

Wheel width comes into play here too. -12mm on a 17x9 (pictured above) will be slightly different than 17x8 for example. At any rate, I just bought 17x9's -12 like the pictures above, but I don't plan on running spacers as I'm not looking for poke, but flush with the flare instead. To get like the above picture you're going to need to run spacers regardless.
