Wheel/Tire Swap with FJ Cruiser

So I have a 2005 SR5 V8. The wheels were starting to look bad, so I decided to shop around. I ended up getting a great deal on some 2010 FJ Cruiser wheels and tires. The owner of the FJ decided to upgrade to some off road tires and the bolt pattern and tire size matched perfectly. Long story short, I put them on and drove with them for about a month locally. I had to hit some high highway speed recently and the TPM light started blinking. Checked all 5 pressures and still good. I know it has something to do with the programming so I am just looking for advice. I called the local Toyota dealership and they told me $125 for each new sensor I would have to put in the wheels because my sensors were incompatible with my ECM? I'm not sure what do do from here and was hoping I could get some advice. Any could help...Thanks.

I would think they would be compatible, you can certainly replace them as they occasionally break. I bet there is a way to calibrate them so they work with your car. Might do some googling.

Normally, the dealer can reset it. My hunch is that the computer on your 05 is not compatible with the 2010 TPMS. I would take out your old TPMS and have them installed on the FJ wheels (if you can).

If you don't have your old TPMS sensors you can also look for someone selling their TPMS sensors, I sold the ones that came with my SE wheels for about $35 (for all 4) here on the forum.

I haven't heard back so I assume they worked fine on the buyer's 4runner after reprogramming.

yeah I def don't have the original sensors any longer. I guess I will have to shop around. Or find a way to disable that light.

I have heard that it may go off after some miles (i.e. driving 50 - 100 miles). I have no proof. I think I read it somewhere. If think there are many posts here; do some searching.

I have no sensors in my FJ Cruiser wheels. My light use to blink now it just stays on, I ignore it.

Take it to your dealer and they should be able to recode them to your vehicle. Cost about $55 or so. The sensors should be fine.
