Wheelers Offroad - BEWARE of return policy

So I spent over $830 within the last (2) months at Wheelers Offroad on springs/shocks/spacers/wheel spacers/etc. I was not able to get all the work done on our two 4Runner's ('03 and '10) within their 30-day period for returns. I ended up not using all the spacers (a couple of different top plate spacers and an OME rear trim spacer) and a set of top plate studs. Keep in mind this stuff is brand new and never installed. I called to try and return these items so I could get about $65 back after spending over $830. "Sorry, we can't credit your card, it's been over 30 days. We can give you a store credit." I just spent $830 at this place, I don't need to buy anything else right now, is it really too much to credit my card about $65??? or even less after they take out their restocking fee. By the way, the orders were placed on 9/28 and 10/13. I'm all done with this "preferred" vendor.

So wait - you knew their return policy, you tried to return stuff outside the return window anyway after you ordered it by mistake, and they were nice enough to offer you store credit for the items anyway, have I got all that right?

I haven't bought from Wheelers before, but I'm more likely to now. Appreciate the recommendation.

while i agree i do not like restocking fees, it's their policy which you seem to be informed of. you could always try selling this stuff to other forum members?

I have bought from wheelers and didnt have any issues. The stuff i bought from them earlier this year has yet to go on my ride (busy and need assistance to put on UCAs, anybody wanna help in the Houston area PM me lol). but im not going to try to return them while they are unused, NEW, and still in the box. i would try to sell here first and try to recoup as much as possible.

don't slam wheelers for a known return policy... they aren't amazon. and you were informed.

Come on man, grow up and be a big boy. They are trying to run a business. Not accommodate your every need.

This stuff wasn't bought "earlier this year", it was bought less than two months ago. Shit comes up and you can't always install the stuff the day after you get it. I work on installing with a friend in his garage, so it depends on when we both have some time. I didn't complain about the restocking fee. I'm saying someone just spent some good money at your store and they just want to return some spacers, give them a little thanks back by bending just a little bit on your 30 day policy. It's called good customer service.

OP what size are your top plate spacers

Store credit is reasonable. They don't seem like a chain or big business, more likely considered small business. It costs them money to keep an item in stock and on the shelf when a return happens. Just hang onto that store credit and when you need something else itll be free or $65 off! Be greatful we have small businesses like this or we will only have 4 wheel parts to deal with one day... :cheer2:

What parts are you stuck with? If you are going to get charged a restocking fee, sell them here and get cash, not credit.

This is the first complaint I've ever heard against Wheeler's. And it's a completely bogus one as well. Their policy is 30 days. Why should they make an exception for you? They shouldn't.

if you were a business owner and had a return policy, wouldn't you make people abide by it? Otherwise when it gets out that you let someone turn something in after the return period, but not someone else then you have even madder customers out there, who feel as though they were not treated fairly for whatever reason, writing bad reviews... and then why even have a return policy if you (the business owner) aren't going to stand by it?

store credit sounds more than fair to me.

also it looks like a forum member above may be interested in your goods...

If anyone knows of the driver side lean, then you would know why some spacers/top plate studs were used and some were not. They weren't bought by mistake.

'03 4Runner replaced springs/shocks with FJ springs/Bilstein 5100's (from Wheelers), expected some lean, there wasn't any.

'10 4Runner replaced springs shocks with OME front springs (from Wheelers), Deaver custom rear springs, FJ TT Bilstein shocks, had lean, used 1/4" front driver, OME rear trim packer driver.

If they start to accommodate you, they will need to accommodate everyone else. They need to be fair And consistent. And it's not like it's a day or 2.

They met you halfway and offered you store credit. I think that is reasonable given you are beyond the return period.

Bummer that you couldn't get the work done.

I have the same sentiment as others.

You do understand why they is a 30-day rule right?

Most businesses run on a 30 day billing cycle. They have to pay for their salaries, insurances, the stock they have on their shelves, new stock they are acquiring, ect. Often small businesses take time out of the week to do the books themselves or actually pay another company to do their books for them. You are asking them to screw up their old books to give you a $65 return? That doesn't seem fair to me considering you knew the policy. Chances are it would cost them more money to make the adjustment.

You also realize that most of these vendors are guys and gals just like you running a business out of a workshop (some even in their backyard)? Not a big ass business like 4WheelParts that has multiple locations across the country and stock warehouses.

...and for goodness sake its $65 bucks! That was a single tank of gas last year. Buy a f'king shift knob or something.

A policy is a policy, got it. No bending allowed, got it. From now on instead of trying to buy all my stuff from one place, I will always look for the cheapest available because I don't matter as a customer anyways. The cheapest not always being Wheelers after you factor in their shipping costs which you don't know how much they will be until after you have placed the order and they bill you. I know, I know, "you knew they were going to add shipping cost, right?". Yes, I knew....just don't know how much. Yes, small company, but most small companies have figured out how to add that into their online business....
