Wheeling and Camping Oct 8-9th

I started out with a small Lincoln 110 MIG welder but when I wanted to build my Bronco I needed more power so I ran 220V in the garage and bought a Miller Millermatic 175 so I could weld thicker metal. That bumper was made out of 1/4" steel.

I also fabricated the SAS with a 4 link and built it from scratch. It required a lot of heavy welding.

My Dad taught me how to weld. It came in handy.

Now I am missing my old Bronco.

You are very skilled TK. That bronco bumper looks cool!

I've always wanted to learn to weld, so I can make my own stuff. I just don't have the tools or know what to buy. I vote for an intro to welding meet

Danny may not be on here but he is an 'honorary member'. He's a good dude who's always there to help out. I told him after this last run, you need a "T4R rescue sticker". :lmao: The run was a lot of fun, thanks to MACT4R for putting this together. White Mtn. was just tough enough to scare my wife. So it's safe to say she won't be joining me on any black diamonds!

Nice work Chris! That bumper is badass. I like how u kept it up nice and tight to the body. Really increased the approach angle. And u used 1/4". Nice. Most ppl would've used 3/16". And the square tube sliders look right on those old 'bricknose' Fords. Now I'm missing my '89 F-250

So it's safe to say she won't be joining me on any black diamonds!

It was good times! My wife in the back was doing some Lamaze breathing and white knuckling going up black diamonds! I was having a little pucker factor as well testing out the rig. All in all family had a good time.:jump:

That was me on my very first time up white mountain. The second time I railed it, and then backed down it to strap Miah without even thinking twice, hahah. Ran up suicide hill to get in front of soso and then finished it to get out of the way for the winch.

Sounds exactly like Danny Cruz's day! He was all over helping those guys out ...as a matter fact they were left with no time to go do their own trails they intended to do after white mountain ...they got wrapped up with rescues and assisting/ mentoring the newbies.
And actually I've been waiting to see if anyone's was gonna thank Danny Cruz and @quatre+coureur for their lead and all day assistance they provided ...and f ing off their owns plans/ agenda that day. They would would have been done with that trail 2-3hrs earlier if they hadn't stayed.

I thank both of you for that, much appreciated and respect as well. :bravo:

I've come to realize that there's no true plan to stick to no matter how much we try with T4R. Shit happens and we get stuck on the trail and we do our best to make sure everyone gets out. I still feel bad about bouncing from the canyon and I never would have done that if there wasn't still a group for support.

I thanked him a few times. I knew that winch was probably the only way to pull me out of that stuff. I might not have gotten around to thanking all the others that did try to pull me out and those who helped with shovels and placing/digging out the traction mats. If I didn't thank you out loud I was doing it in my head many times over. It was busy there for a bit going in many directions at once.

You're quite welcome sir. It was my pleasure. I'll be sure to let Danny know. I didn't mind staying at all. It's great to see the enthusiasm of our members as their skills progress. And speaking of progression, I'd say a few guys(MACT4R,?)are ready for something next level. Danny and I had planned on doing 3N93 via 3N08, then taking 2N06X back to 3N16. We'll probably make that run in November. It's a true black diamond, not a blue square like Wht. Mtn. :heh: Sliders mandatory! At least one locker HIGHLY recommended. Details to follow...

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar! I thank you for your trail leadership and mentorship if I hadn't already. Thanks to those who participated and made the run very enjoyable and a learning process. I think getting stuck is fun as well because you get to learn what you should/shouldn't do and solve problem situations. Thanks to those who helped [MENTION=128995]TK-422[/MENTION] and [MENTION=143757]MisterNickG[/MENTION] (required additional driver to get him out! HEHE!) get back on the trail. Can't wait for the next run! Let's do this Gentlemen!

We can do that. I would have to pick up some welding goggles though. I only have one helmet at the moment. My other one is at my dad's house.
