Once you have driven the 1GR with a PeddleCommander you will see it CAN feel like a worthy powerplant.....the Engine has the stuff, but the programming is at fault. Buy one and enjoy.

The thing to watch is Ford IMO, with the release of the Ranger and the forthcoming Bronco which I feel would be a direct competitor to the 4r. Toyota hopefully will plan for it and release the 6th gen that can compete.

From the videos I've been watching on the Ranger and it's powerplant it's going to give Toyota something to think about.

Having owned a 2017 TRD pro Tacoma, the biggest fault with that truck was the 6spd transmission. It didn't do the motor any Justice unless you were romping on it all the time. The motor didn't seem to come alive unless it was past 3500 RPM. Maybe the 8spd would help with the hear hunting issues.
