I like the 4runner but the tacoma has the extra tech stuff that I like (im a geek don't judge) The in dash screen is way above what the current 4runner offers. Whats the chance that the 2020 will be refreshed?

Looking at the off road premium with leather and sunroof and the KDSS suspension. I cant get a sunroof in the tacoma because im to tall. Im fine in my wife's 4runner sr5.

The only way to know is to make a decision on a rig...then wait until a few months later when Toyota announces the new ground up redesign you just missed out on.

Murphy's Law, right?

If we want to believe the rumors on the always truthful Internet then here is a supposed picture of the 2020 redesign:

Everyone relax, that's a hacked up version of the previous gen Prado 150. No one knows what the 2020 4Runner will look like, heck it could and will most likely be a 5th gen. No one knows when the 6th gen 4Runner will be released and what it looks like besides the head honchos at Toyota themselves and that's a well kept secret until they are ready to announce it. It's anyone's guess at this point.

Can you explain this? I am also tall....I never had a sunroof create 'less' headroom, so I'm curious.

I’m not sure the exact amount of room you loose but you loose around 3in of head room when you have a sunroof. This was the first vehicle that I have ever had an issue in

I’ve always wondered about that to, im on the tallish side of 6’3 and sunroofs have never been an issue for me. Most cars I don’t sit well in don’t have a sunroof :frog:

Really seems to vary by vehicle (6'5"). I've had a few in the past where I absolutely could not fit in the given car with a sunroof.

I daily drive a VW Golf with a sunroof...plenty of headroom and great legroom.

Our 2018 4Runner does have a sunroof. Driver side is no problem given that the seat is height adjustable. Passenger side does not have this adjustment.....I fit, but only just.

I have a Ram 2500 Power Wagon and those spec'd with a sunroof have less headroom in them as well. This is common in some vehicles due to how the manufacturer builds in the gear/track assembly.

Oh and in regards to the 2020 MY 4Runner, I have been told by numerous dealers/salesman/Gulf States that the 6th Gen won't be out until 2021 or 2022. Take that for what it is worth but if the addition of the new shocks and old FJC roof rack are any indication, I wouldn't expect it in 2020. No manufacturer would go through those types of changes for only one model year, but then again, you never know.

In 2020 and not a day earlier. Toyota is most secretive about their new products because friggin lesser companies like to steal design and put in production cheaper and faster.

Well they did introduce the TRD Pro to the 2015 Tacoma in the 2nd gens last MY so who knows. Maybe 2020 will be the year of the 6th gen!!! I'll agree with you though, 2021/22 would be my guess.

Just open the sunroof and stick your head out..

We laugh but the added space from the headliner to the glass is exactly what I was thinking about.

I know with the sliding shade cover I'm hitting the roof, with it open I'm good.
Assuming the headliner is raised that 2 inches in t4r without sunroofs I get it.

But I've never owned one without or even considered buying one without.

I guess I'm just not that tall...6' 2", compared to those with issues.

They don't like the number 6, so they are going to re-name it and then call it a 1st gen. I drove a 1992 Toyota Pickup a while back. Then I believe in 1996 it turned into a 1st gen Taco. Not sure if that would have been a 6th gen pickup or not. So really a 3rd gen Taco is several more gens than that.

Maybe the new name will be FourRunner or 4Runur.

I think as long as the 5th gen sales go up every year, it will be unlikely to change. Just good business sense.

Maybe in 2019. I say this because Pro sales must be slowing, I now have several dealers willing to sell a 2019
Pro at sticker price. Wasn’t like that a few months ago. Or people are waiting to see what the Bronco or Defender will be like. Pro pricing not as crazy lately here in AZ. Anyone else seeing this?
