Where did you mount your aftermarket alarm LED?

Hey guys. I have been trying to figure out a good place to install my aftermarket alarm LED, which wasn't going to be your normal center console blank install. Of course, that is a good place because it's able to be seen from both sides of the vehicle. But again, I wanted it to be somewhat original, and different.

I wound up getting a Highlander security indicator, gutted it, then placed my Viper LED in it. Another thing I was thinking about doing is installing the indicator LED in the overhead console, kinda like the BMWs have (except I believe theirs is mounted on the underside of the rear-view mirror).

Anyway, your thoughts?

i put mines on the pillars by the wind shield , right at the bottom, i do have side air bags too. i have the compustar 2 way 900fm series ,heres the pics

and i also wire up a scanner led to work with my alarm, and its above the steerinf wheel cover

I think it looks pretty cool. What's funny is after you posted yours, I noticed the guy down the block from me (Yukon) has his the same way as yours. Very noticeable at night.

Did you use two super-bright LEDs or anything like that? Did you just splice them in together? I also had a red scanner similar to that in my previous vehicle.

its some bright blue leds that is 5mm in size, imported from japan, my uncle owns a stereo alarm shop, so he has them, its wired together to my alarm status output for the led, so instead of one, i use 2, all work done at audiomobile in oakland ca, also i use those same led, but in 3mm i think, paid like 50 for them since i asked for 20, and used those for the climate controls, ill take pics soon.

also since i have an 07, theres a extra spot next to the dimmer switch, thats where i used to mount the mic for the glass breakage sensor.

Yeah, I wish our older ones had that extra spot for the seat memory switches. I even bought the switches and instrument trim piece, but it doesn't fit mine properly, and I don't have time to "make it" fit.

I'd like to see some pics of your climate controls with the new LEDs installed. Have you thought about going all out and changing the lighting in the instrument cluster as well, or other switches? That would be quite the undertaking, but sounds like it is do-able.

right now all the wording is still the amber orange color, but the leds that liight up and tells u is all blue, im in the process of changing all the neo wedge bulbs, to some blue leds as soon as i get my order from superbrightleds.com, i ordered 5 of each 3,4,5 neo size, since i dont noe which one will fit, but it only cost 25 all together, also the cluster, i dont think ill be changing that yet, i read that some had problems with the speed, u can look for it at toyotanation.

these are the leds that will b used to make the wording on the controls blue, these are neowedge, gona post some more pic to tell u guys wat size is where

and these are the leds that i used, i knoe its not that clear, but i think they are 3mm in size, and they are blue. matches the size in the stock orange too.

the led to use behind the lcd screen is neo4 size, and the rest use neo3. so far i have the defrost,recirculate,and the reset/mode,and tailgate window switch changed to blue, all used neo3 size, planning on doing the rest after i get more leds. also when i changed the leds behind the lcd screen to blue, it made the screen look aqua green almost, so i decide to change it back to stock amber.

That's pretty cool. Almost seems to take on a higher-tech look. Have any pics at night with no flash?

How did you figure out which LEDs to use for the different locations? Such as the NEO-3, 4, or 5. What's the difference between them.

That sucks that it made your LCD display look green. I wonder if you use a different color LED you can make it a blue hue instead of green. If I remember correctly, Blue and Yellow make green. So what mixed with yellow would make Blue? Anybody?

It may not look too bad if it remained amber though. When you get a chance, I'd really like to see what it looks like with no other lighting.

Wow! Nice! I know that they are bulbs and I wanted to replace them with LEDS so my stupid idea was to use resistors to drop down..but I was lazy manually soldering each and my eyes are not like yesterdays. I just saw in your pack that they are already 12V LEDS! most of my bulbs are already busted..I've tried christmas light bulbs, but those will draw highier current causing uneven illumination.

on the climate control board iself, it has all 3mm leds, so all u do is take those out and solder the blue ones on, it dosent have to be blue, can be any color, i was thinking of those flashing ones too, but i dont like it as much as solid blue , took me couple of days, kuss its like i put in 1 hour a day to complete the whole project, still not finish yet.
