Where did you place aftermarket gauges?

Folks, I'd like to "fully guage" the 4 runner I am restoring, but truly cannot see where i could put a guage pod ( not on the A pillar - too distracting) other than low in the console blocking the tray. ,

Looking at the smallest Autometer 1.5" gages? I may just go with oil pressure as its the critical one i 'd like to monitor instead of the 3 gang, which is the best deal, price-wise. And of course, one fits better than a three gang. Looking for some ideas...

If you have a 99+ (or 96-98 and swap in the overhead) you could stick it where the sunglasses holder is, some people make scangauge mounts for them, can't imagine it'd be too hard to tweak one of those to fit a oil pressure gauge.

Have you considered using the sunglasses holder area, especially if you have a 99+ model?

I installed my Autometer 1.5" oil pressure gauge right above the center console. It's discreet but still easily readable, and it doesn't obstruct any important compartments. Plus, keeping an eye on that oil pressure is crucial.

I like Ed's suggestion, akin to the old SUN supertach strapped onto the steering column with a huge hose clamp, ala 1960s.

Thinking I 'll only mount the oil pressure guage in the cockpit and forgo water and volts. It IS the most critical. In fact LKQ SAYS to mount an oil pressure guage for the initial start up of the "taco toyota" reman.

19963. I have a simple mechanical guage I could rig up right quick in the engine bay at the ready. I did want one in the cockpit, hence the post. Electrical, although the warm oil bath my foot took in the Chevelle with a mech oil guage wasnt so bad! I have thought about a copper line to the cabin and be done with it.

Its crazy to pay $60 for the Autometer 1.5" oil pressure gauge or $95 for the 3 brace of 1.5" guages Yet I may go oil only. Or oil + water + Ed's steering wheel strap, BUT that is for the larger 2"+ guages. Prefer to keep thing "jap hands small" as is everything else in the cockpit! so the smallest 1.5" face from Autometer were the pick.
