Where do the sunroof drains exit?

Any pics of what you mean? do you mean on top or the inside? I put blue painters tape on the inside for a tighter seal and it actually worked amazing.

I haven't tried it on mine yet so no pictures but I figured that if you want to seal it up semi-permanently, rather than using duct tape or a thick sealant you could spray plasit-dip on it to create a waterproof and flexible film layer that will prevent water getting as far as the normal seal. Same result as using duct tape, but it would be almost undetectable, and could be peeled off if you ever wanted to open the roof again in the future.

Clearly, if your seals have big gaps letting water in, then plasit-dip wouldn't work and you would need something thicker.

If I try it I'll post up some pics.

On the antenna, your Antenna should have a grommet that seals the cable between the inner fender and the passenger compartment. I would check the grommet.

On the sun roof, you can have one of two things: The drains could be clogged and cleaned easily, or your drain lines could have actually come off the sunroof. I had to pull my headliner and found that my passenger side drain had come off and was pouring water onto the headliner.

Hopefully it is just clogged.

Can you get to the back drainer from the top of the sunroof as you do for the 2 at front??? in a 1997 4 runner??

TO access rear drain lines for sunroof from the top the headliner would need to be removed - they are at end of rails approx. at rear of back doors. NOt a big deal with headliner - just several things need to be removed IE: sunshades, lights grab bars etc.

97 4runner 2.7 can't find drain hoses.

Hello everyone,

I have looked at every picture and video I could find. I am not able to find the rear drain lines for my 4runner.

My sunroof is leaking and I cleared out the front lines but I am unable to find the rear ones. Does every car have them?

I have checked just under the car in every area behind the rear wheels. I can see the area that everyone shows the drain tubes to be but they are just not there on my 4runner.

Rear quarter panels right behind the rear wheels. There are drain tubes in that spot behind the sides of the rear bumper.

Thanks for the reply.
I searched and searched in those two areas. I have seen the video and pictures. Those drain tubes just are not there neither is hole for them.
Someone says that one of their drains is in the plastic air vent (that lets air out of the cab) behind the rear bumper. He has a 97 4runner. I need to look into that.

My '96 has the left rear drain exiting into the vent behind the bumper - in fact there is a plastic clip to secure it in that location. (easy to find because both my rear bumper and interior have been removed)

As it turns out, the left front drain on my truck was completely clogged at the sunroof - causing the passenger-door waterfall in the cabin after rain, and royally screwing up my driver's side sunroof cable.... (this is why the interior is out at the moment...)

- here's to crossed fingers hoping the cable can be unfrozen with penetrating oil!
