Where do ya'll mount your winch solenoid?

The build is moving right along and I think i am going to take the bumper off today and get ready to put in the winch, trans cooler, and new headlights next week. I've looked at a few threads but still would like to see more places to put this solenoid. There is room right beside the battery but I don't know if that will get too hot in there and I was looking at moving the items attached to the passenger side fender but not too sure about that either. No matter what I am probably going to have to extend the electrical cables. I had some gift cards from Harbor Freight and a super coupon so I'm trying out the Badlands 9000. I've heard a lot of good things and some bad things but since cash is hard to come by these days I figure this is better than nothing. :bravo:

My dad got one of those for his Tundra, hasn't installed it yet but it looks like a solid system.

I don't know about the solenoid, but my giant switch box is off to the rear starboard side of the engine bay. My dad installed my winch awhile ago so I don't know where the wiring all is, but that's a nice open space if you're lookin.

Put mine on top of fuse box next to battery. It was a tad too big for the top of the bumper and it actually fit perfectly, nudged between battery clamp and evap box. I did have to move the wired control connector to oposite side and installed a wireless module so i dont have to open the hood to use it. By switching the wires around, all i had to do was get 1 harbor freight 2 ga. inverter cable set (6') on sale for just $30.

All that said the 6' cables barely reached, and depending on the size of your box (lol) this location may or may not work out as well.

I would say wait until you have the box in hand and then just mock up all the places that might work and go from there.

Lastly since youre on a budget, i would give ENGO a real hard look before pulling the trigger on a HF model. See this:

I pull the cruise control module and stuck mine there. Used the cruise control bracket.
