Where have all the old yotas gone?

its a pain in the ass taking the top off...get two people under it and pull it, but since its raised, u gotta jump down somehow..

The last couple times I've taken the top off, I did it by myself, and it was pretty easy----Well, not REAL easy but not too bad. The best way I found is back my runner up (intersecting) to the side of my pick-up's bed, with the runner's tailgate down and about a foot away from my pick-up. Unbolt the top, lift it enough to fit a 2x4 across the 4runner's bed rails(right on the engine side of the pins/dowls that go into the top. Then get underneath the top and lift a little bit with it supported by your back, and slowly take it backwards. The 2x4 won't slide out with the top because the pins hold it in place, and you can sit the top on the 2x4 (as a back up in case you drop it or need to set it down). And just walk out the back of the runner and into the back of the pick-up, and set the top accross the bed rails of the pick-up.

Could lay it accross the cav... lol, j/k... I might get a project runner here pretty soon. I just made an offer on one I heard through the grape-vine. It's a 95 with 100,000 miles on it, a 4" lift and a blown engine. I heard the last offer made to the owner was 1,500$. So I told the friend that told me about it to tell her I'll give her 2,000$. That would kick ass if I could get it for that, put about another 1,200$ into parts, and rebuild it and have another toy to play with for 3,200$ plus my labor.

That could work for me....:)

Well, i went to that site LCEngineering....an they sell SUPERCHARGERS! for the 2.4L!

only problem is, that theyre still bein made, the reason that there isnt a pic or any info on it is cuz they dont have the finished product.

Well, im going to get one...be sure of that;)

ever consider doing some offroading in my neck of the woods?

That would be cool, if I did, it would be quite a while from now, seeing how I'm on the far West side of North America, and on the far East side. :) Who know's though, after I get settled into work a bit, might be able to talk the wife into a lengthy road trip...

I just bought that project runner last night, I'll post a pic of it, it's a 95 with a 4" skyjacker, worn 33 TSL's and a blown engine, but It's in real good condition and I got it for 2000 dollars.

Oh yeah,

That sucks that their still being made, but all is well, seeing how I can't afford one anytime soon anyways. But yes, I agree, I too will be sporting a supercharger.

Damn, ur right...
BUT! LCEngineering makes superchargers for the 3.0L....just gotta see if its compatable

I'll have to check that out. It will be a while though, I gotta throw a new engine in first. I'm not gonna rebuild this one, previous owner ran it completely dry of oil. So it would be a pretty serious and spendy overhaul.

They are getting hard to find. Here is my 89 v6 SAS (I'll be putting my high steer kit and new front springs on this weekend). :D

Thats a nice 1st gen.

I see you've already done the solid axle conversion. What springs are you putting on? And who's high-steer kit are you using. I'm planning on putting Sky-manufacturing's on my 85.

I bought it just like it sits. I am going with a All Pro high steer kit and front springs. I am not sure what spring I have now, but they beat you to death. I have read both good and bad about them, but the local 4x4 shop that does all my gears recomends them highly. I talked to All Pro a couple of times and they seem straight foward and knowledgeable with all their answers. I guess I'll post on them when I get everything installed.

I gotta change my info. I just put all-pro's 5" on the front of mine, their softer than my skyjackers were, and almost as much lift as the 7" skyjacker spring had. Their good springs, I've just heard and seen, that they flatten out after a while, especially if you over-flex them. So I'm planning on getting bigger bump-stops to prevent them from bending past flat. I really like where they put the front axle though. My 7" skyjacker springs would let my 35's rub the back side of my fenders. The 5" all-pro puts the axle forward quite a ways so the tires tuck nicely.

I ordered the 5" springs also. All Pro told me that they had a nice soft street ride, but they would sag sooner then other companies. That's the trade off you get when you want a softer ride though. I just got off the phone with them and all my parts were suppose to ship last week, but they still did not have all the parts for the high steer. Maybe next week I'll have them. I know there is a place here in town that will re-arch you old springs for $40 if needed.

Yeah, I was gonna get my skyjacker's re-arched , but they wanted a butt-load of info and specs, and skyjacker told me they wouldn't give them to me because then I would have their "recipe" to fab their springs...

They want front eye to center pin, and rear eye to center pin, of new spring measurements. That one's easy, but the other ones were spring rate and camber, so maybe you could stealthly get that info from All-pro. Maybe ask them spring rate one day, and like a month later ask them camber. They might give it to you then your golden. I think I'm going to try to get that info from them as well....

see, my skyjacker rear springs are pretty stiff still, ive had them on for just under a year...but i got the rear 2" more than they were supposed to be, that way when they do sag, it stays equal in the end with the front!

I am so smrt!
