Where to buy a good grill for the Satoshi mod?

Where's a good place to buy a quality grill. I see ones on Ebay and such and don't know if they have that crappy chrome coating that peels or fades after a year. Thanks guys!

You can get a new one off eBay for about $50, and you can get them unfinished. Check the fit before you start cutting into the it though since some of them have wider tabs that need to be trimmed down a little. With the cutting you'll be doing on it there's no need to get one with chrome since it'll be ruined before you're finished with it.

Thanks for the reply. 2 things. I've seen several threads where they saved the chrome. I kinda want to save it but I guess could paint it white. Also, where are these tabs?

I guess you're right since only the outside lip is chromed. The grill is help on by 5 or 6 tabs that connect to the radiator frame support. On some aftermarket grills those tabs are a different shape, and don't fit into the factory openings on the support. You just need to trim them down a little, and then it'll fit just fine.
 
Partsgeek.com or rockauto.com. Both sites sell grilles that are good quality. Previous statements about the tabs is correct, some need either dremeled or shaved a tad to fit the mounts.
 
I can tell you right now DO NOT GO CHROME. The cheap grills chrome after a year or two starts to peel and it is ruined. Then trying to strip and paint is almost impossible. Its best to paint a non finished unit.

Have you thought about one of these. High quality and priced pretty well.

Wow, thanks for that link. I very well may do this. They state on their site they don't paint their grills. I do see some chrome ones in those pictures. Now I don't know what I want to do. I would love the black but my limited cladding is silver, my rims are silver. I almost feels like it would kinda stick out. Now if I had black rims, blacked out emblems, Hmmmmm..... Damn mod bug strikes again!

Maybe email them about the chrome. Mine was a cheap replacement and it peeled within 2 years. Maybe he uses a better one.

I did one in chrome so let's see how long that chrome lasts. Also, if you do decide to tackle this mod, be prepared to invest a lot of hours in it. So, buying a ready made one could sound pricey but you will not have to deal with the tedious work involved.
