Where to install my 2000W power inverter?

Any suggestions on where to install the 2000w power inverter I just purchased? It will be used often, several times a week, when I am out shark fishing this upcoming season, to power halogen lights so that we can seen what the hell is going on around the camp and with the lines. So I will need to get to it readily. The dimensions of the unit are as follows: 12.5x12.3x6.7", I also need it somewhere, where sand will not get to it easily, up off the floor basically, and I would rather not have to worry about it over heating. I havent posted in a while so here are some pics of my baby in progress, coming along nicely in my opinion. Mods-HIDS, 3" spacer lift (still looking for new tires), changed fogs to yellow piaa lights, bull bar, thule rack and handmade, welded steel basket custom made for my car, 6 aluminum rod holders attached to basket for surf fishing, being welded: aluminum kayak loaders, aluminum gobi style ladder. Being cut and readied: diamond plate flooring for basket with fighting post mount for fighting chair on basket. My story, went from stock to all this in about a month because I sold my ninja and needed something to do in my spare time. On the inside there are now fishing rod hanging systems to keep the rods up on the ceiling and out of the way, I have designed and built most everything used except the lift, and light bulbs. I have been trading on CL and buying smart. All and all lift, complete rack, basket, and fishing rod holders, (including all hardware) it has cost me -$10.00, thats right, I actually made money modding and trading things I had laying around the house. Things being welded now, different story haha. Last one is bone stock last summer.:lookout:

That inverter draws a whole lot of amps if you use it beyond 1KW. Must mount near the battery, using heavy cables, and away from heat and water. Sounds complicated to me.

If you plan to use the inverter with the truck off and don't want to mount it under the hood, you could add a deep cycle to the cargo area. I'm thinking a temporary install where you can take it in and out when you fish. Make up a plywood box that holds the deep cycle and inverter, leave some connections wired up to the cargo area where you can charge the battery while you drive or run the truck.

I don't think you'll be wanting to run the truck the whole time you are fishing and you definitely don't want to drain your starting battery and get stuck on the beach in the middle of the night!

Personally I would just buy a small honda generator. No worries of killing the vehicles ability to start or catch on fire. You can run a lot more stuff while camping/shark fishing. They are relatively light to so you could just throw it up on the roof rack when you are setting up.
