Where to mount 3 way components?

That part of the door panel is quite close to the inner door skin so no, I don't think you can do that. I would have to pull the panel and measure it to give you the absolute answer but I wouldn't hold my breath. riceandpho's concerns notwithstanding, that flat space above the grille works really well. I am very happy with the projection of the mid's sound from that location. Having a little obstruction of the driver's side actually seems to help balance the sound for the driver's position.

Custom pillars with a pod for the mid and tweeter on each would be the ultimate but you need to put in the time to practice and perfect that project if you want it to look right.

Thanks jdkilroy for posting the picture. I was thinking of mounting the mid in the same location with the exception of the tweeter and mounting the tweeter in the OEM location. I noticed even the lower speaker is somewhat blocked by the driver and to get total clearance without mounting them in the pillars is almost impossible. Thanks again for the pic. Hope you enjoy your speakers. I still have not decided if I am going to buy 2-ways or 3-ways. Having a fuller sound spectrum would be great but I was hoping I would not have to alter the exterior door. Originally, I was hoping both speakers would fit in the lower location but I realize besides space, that would make the mid too far from the tweeter as well.

Old post but I’m into it. Currently trying to figure out this problem. Anyone that sees this and has done some I’m all ears. I looked at putting some mods on the A pillars but not only the work but just blocking your view on this type of vehicle is not looking good.
I’m trying to figure out a way to maybe cram in some 3” to 3.5” where the factory tweeters are and put some tweeters on the A pillar or on axis on the dash in the corner next to the A pillar.
This is just a difficult vehicle to fit a 3 way.
