I got my '10 TE a few months ago, and have begun looking into starting to add stuff to it. Any recommendations on where to start? So far I have done pretty mild to maybe moderate trails up around the local mountains, nothing too serious. I am not really looking to do extreme jeep trails or rock crawling, more of an overlanding type thing. Right now I'm thinking new tires are gonna be first (I bought it used and they were pretty worn down), but next are possibly nerf bars (?). Anyone got any input on what to start with?

Never understood these threads. Why do YOU care what WE think YOU should mod?
Drive YOUR truck however YOU normally would and then mod whatever YOU think needs improvement / changed.
When YOU need specific help or advice about a specific mod then WE will be here for YOU.

Even though this question has been asked a number of times, the consensus is usually something similar to:
1. Drive it stock, you will be surprised at how much you can do as-is
2. Basic recover gear (snatch strap, shackle hitch receiver, gloves, etc)
3.Tires
4. Protect your rockers and under carriage with rock sliders and under armor
5. Lift
Sometimes people swap 4 with 5
I personally wouldn't get Nerf bars. The steps hang too low and will limit your clearance. Get a set of rock sliders that have the kickouts if your family needs help getting in.

If you're doing tires anyway, get 285/70/17's and a 3"/2" lift. If you are just overlanding, you might not need recovery gear, but I'd get it any way. General Grabber AT2s have the same pattern as the more popular BFG KO2s and cost less.

Tires for sure. Go with sliders over nerf steps (you'll ruin nerf steps quickly if you venture off pavement). There's TONS of info, so search it out.
The main thing I would recommend is to check out as many build threads as you can. You can see what everyone else is doing to their trucks and decide (based on how you use yours) what you might want to do, too. Search "Build" in the 5th Gen forum, advanced search, titles only. These are but a few that I follow:

Welcome to T4R.org, man. While we do sincerely appreciate your many years of helping fellow members you forgot to tell the OP which mods he should do.
I'd say, don't mod just for modding's sake. Do it for what you need, and where you can improve to make it a better driving experience.
First mod I did was Husky liners cuz I hate when ppl track their dirty shoes in my car. We take off our shoes when we get in the house (yes, I'm Asian!), why not when we get in the car?
2nd mod was the headlights. It's 2018 and dammit, why didn't the 4Runner come stock with LED/HID headlights????!!!

I am new to this forum as well and Am surprised at the attitude of some people. I have been part of other forums in the past like FJBruisers And another a Tundra forum for my past vehicles, and with a VERY few exceptions, There was not much attitude thrown around especially to new members.
If you have nothing positive to add, then move on to the next post.....or leave the site all together. There is way to much attitude in this world and for you to feel you need to lash out at someone that just is looking for a little advice,no matter how insignificant you may feel it is, is saying something about you as a person. Of coarse I am expecting some smart comment back and testimonial of how you don't care what others think, I think the monitor of this site should exercise some control and block you from posting if this is how you are going to act.
I don't mean to be a jerk either and hate dealing with people like that. Just post what you did first and why and move on, or again, DON'T POST ANYTHING AT ALL.
Now to answer the question...........as with any rig, you need to look at how you are going to use it and what its stock setup limitations are.
I plan on a lift first so I can make room for a little bit bigger tire, and new rails for the side for protection. If you are just looking for road travel and not off road go with some cosmetic stuff you like. It is up to you on how you will use it.

For what is worth, the reason behind the tough love social policing is that this type of thread is repeatitvive and thus makes everyone elses internet search that much harder when they try to legitimately find information with the magical google search button.
Its really a thing of beauty, that google. See, you ask it questions and it gives you answers like "mods to 4runners" or "4runner lift kits" and such.

A site of guys???? LOL guys don't have to talk crap to be men. I shouldn't expect much from Jersey I know...Philly?? I am a Philly Fan and born and raised in Allentown,Pa so Philly gets a pass on this one.
With that said I understand if the new guy is bringing up old redundant conversations, but it is still your chose to just leave the post.. The top left of your screen is an arrow that point to your left......(ask someone which is left if you can't figure that out)... push that and it will take you back out of the post. Its called a back arrow. :fish:
