Where to tap in to dashboard lights?

I've searched around but can't seem to find anything on this, but I installed some accessory switches with two separate LEDs and I'd like them to light up with the dash lights when the headlights go on. What's the best place to tap into this circuit behind the dash on the left side of the steering column? I found someone said to tap into the brightness knob as it is a switching ground (grounded when headlights on, not grounded when headlights off), but that appears to have a constant ground. Thanks for any help!

I have tapped into the green wire on the clock without any issues.

Does that wire turn on when the dash lights go on or is it on whenever the clock is on?

Sorry, I read your first post wrong. Yes I have heard about the dimmer switch and you can also use the light for ashtray since its easy to locate.

The one I was mentioning at clock is on when lights are off, so not ideal for what you need.

You know what I already have cut that out and just left the cable taped shut back there, but never thought to use it.
