Where to warranty out a busted GearWrench tool?

I picked up a used set of GearWrench flex-head ratcheting wrenches today and the 17mm has a semi-screwed up ratcheting mechanism.

I know GearWrench has a lifetime replacement warranty where you mail it in, but I would prefer to take it to a local dealer and replace it instead messing with the mail.

Anyone know of any chains that accept warranty replacements?

It may be hard if you dont have the original receipt since severl companys carry gearwrench. I would try sears first maybe?

You could try Sears since they're a distributor? But most likely they'll just send it in for you anyways.

I warrantied a couple of my Gear Wrenches through my Snap-Op dealer (bought them through him) and he had to order new ones for me, so I still had to wait.

If you call the Apex tool company who distributes Gearwrench they will ask you if there is a local Fastenal nearby, who covers all their warranty work. Or get an RMA from Apex and send it to them for a replacement.

If the gearing is just bad in it throw it in a bucket of ATF for a day or two and see if that helps.

Gearwrench- good design, not the best materials used IMHO.

I may try them if I have to, but I try to avoid Sears and their crappy customer service. I find myself going elsewhere more and more.

I think there is a Fastenal nearby actually.

The mechanism is screwy inside as it will ratchet just fine and then suddenly get stiff and it's hard to ratchet. It doesn't happen in the same spot or all the time, just most of the time.

This is good info. I have a ten mil with a stripped mechanism and a fourteen mil with a floppy head, I thought I was stuck with them.

I love my GearWrenches, but I've learned you can't crank on 'em.
