Which front shock to buy

I reckon from the bottom as the stock springs need to be helped out a little to get some lift. 4th from the bottom meaning 2nd from the top correct?

Awesome, thanks for the insight Tyler James can't wait to get away from the TRD Coil setup, plush is what I'm looking for not jarring and over-sprung like the the TRD Coil and Tundra 5100s are without weight.

Under-sprung and over-dampened traditionally creates a more comfortable ride.

Wanna swap coils, or sell me your TRD ones? Lol

I'm gonna install my setup first but I might be open to it

Yeah I'd like that. Let me know how your setup works out.

If not I'll just swap my old '00 coils back on and sell the TRD ones to offset the cost of the 99s.

tundra 5100s

and aftermarket tundra coils. Having hd this set up on my 3rd gen it made a huge difference improvement..

4th notch from the top or bottom?
Notch 1 is no lift; bottom of strut.
I believe each notch nets approximately 1/2" height difference at the hub-to-fender.
Under-sprung and over-dampened traditionally creates a more comfortable ride.
A man after my own heart ❤️
Truer words haven't been spoken, and that's exactly how I feel about the '99 Tall/Tundra 5100 combo.
It seems everyone has a different opinion when it comes to suspension handling/ride/etc, so I should add "YMMV".

For who asked-
My center of hub to bottom of fender is right at 22.25" to 22.5". I have flares, so that will be about 3/16" less distance than without flares with the same height settings.
I suppose coil age/milage will have an impact, but I think all used '99 Tall coils are gonna be similar in age [emoji6]

So on new years day I installed my 5100's and Tundra coils (new not used). set them on the 3rd notch of 4. for info rear is 8 wraps and LC shocks. Anyway, I am curious to hear from others that have run this setup, Rides good but Ive noticed that the billies seem to be under valved on rebound. I know the tundra springs are not even close to being broken in but has anyone else experienced this or am I just spoiled from my other 3rd gen with kings up front? LOL

You're spoiled! LOL I ran new TRD's with Tundra 5100's on the second perch for about 6 weeks. I loved it (compared to the old worn out suspension) although it was a little jarring on big pot holes. After I put on the Shrockworks plate bumper it rode real nice, still does. I dont think I'd run TRD/5100's on 3 without extra weight in the front.

LOL I figured that would be the answer. I am totally stock as far as weight goes and I bet a bumper and winch would go a long ways to soften up the front end. I am also thinking about taking off the front sway bar to reduce the spring rate just a little. And I may go back down to the 2nd perch, right now the truck sits almost perfectly level with the 8 wraps in the rear so the front is pretty tall.

That is tall, I have about a 1.5" rake with the 8 wraps.

You said this is for the wife right? She's not going to like the ride.

it's just her crawler but yes I have to soften it up. they are going to have to go down a notch. She doesn't mind it how it is now but as Ive drove it it has to get softer and she will like it even more. and I knew I should have gotten the lifetime alignment dang it. LOL

Little update. I never took the time to move the front down a notch but it finally has softened up and came down about an inch and a half. I think since the springs were brand new they really needed time to settle in. We are super happy with how she is riding now. And is sitting level or even a little nose down. :lookout:

Tundra 5100 24-261425 length question

Imgur: The magic of the Internet

I'm having a hard time assembling my tundra 5100 with tundra coil lift. Why would there be a difference in length between both shocks ? Which length is the correct one , and why would there be a difference although part numbers are same? Is the shorter of the two not fully extended ? Thank you so much for the help
