Which LC Tokico Shocks?

I'm looking at getting the Tokico Black 80 Series LC Shocks (Toyota Part # 48531-69417) for my 99 4runner SR5 4x4. I'm wanting these to go with a set of 80 series LC coils for the rear (purple/green/white and double purple/light blue/white) I already have.
On Sonoran steel's site they have the shocks for $140 and say they have a rock skid plate welded on them. Is this a mod that sonoran steel does themselves and do they also re valve them themselves?
Or am I better off to get the stock part directly from Toyota? Do they come with the skip plate on them stock and are they valved correctly?
Any help/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Get them from Toyota. I paid like $80 for the pair. They have the black metal shield on them, at least mine did. Same part number.

Eh, probably. I was running them with 861's and felt they could have been a little longer so they might work. Can't think of anyone who has tried it off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone will chime in

The ones from Toyota have the plate welded to them. I am using the Landcruiser shocks with my 890's seems to be a good match-up.

1985taylor1925 runs them. Although he doesn't really wheel his rig but he still runs them. I'm thinking of running them soon but moving my front sway bar links to the rear to give me that extra flex of the extended shocks but the sway bar will still keep it from over flexing.

I made a thread a few weeks back that went through most of these questions in detail. The reason that Sonoran Steel is charging $140 is because he includes some additional hardware that is required for the install, but is not included w/the shocks themselves.

@ Minimum, you will need to purchase FOUR of Toyota Part # 90948-02144 to complete the install. These washers run $10, EACH.

I paid $45 for each shock, so $90 for the pair, plus $40 worth of washers, plus 7% sales tax, I ended up a hair over $140. Sonoran steel isn't ripping you off, he's just putting it all together in one package. Depending on shipping costs, it may be a better deal for you.

Ok so two for the top and bottom of each shock right? with the bushings in between.
I think I reused my OEM 4runner centering washer but not sure.
Do you know a Toyota part number for these?
I just need two, right?

Or part numbers that I could get a better fitting one elsewhere?

I read your whole link before I posted.
Maybe you weren't sure of the question you quoted.
You said the 2 centering washers for the LC shocks won't fit the 3rd gen mount.
I WAS asking for the Toyota part number for the 4Runner centering washer.
I have the OME shocks and I think they had their own centering washer (don't remember.)
Or if there is a way to get some of the Rancho ones you said fit better.

My mistake derdog34, I apologize.

I don't have the Toyota part # for the 4Runner centering washers. I just dug my old ones out of a spare parts bag.

The parts diagrams I use show that the 4Runner shock hardware is all included w/the shock as a single part #. You'd probably have to call the dealer and see if they can locate an individual part #.

And that is correct, you will only need two of the centering washers.

The Rancho washers that I used were removed from the shocks that were on the vehicle when I bought it. They were completely shot, so I threw them away, but kept all the hardware. I'm not sure where you'd start on trying to locate the Rancho washers, but the OEM 4Runner centering washers will work just fine.

Thanks for your help. I will have to see which centering washer is on my OME shocks and go from there. I'm sure that the Toyota parts dept. can get them for me if all else fails.
Glad you wrote about the washers. I would have just purchased the shocks and been screwed when I came across this middle of install. After looking on Sonoran Steel's site, I figured there was more to it when it said, "additional parts required to install."

I put these shocks on my 4Runner and so far I love them. I broke an OME shock so I wanted to beef up the upper part of the shock. I used the LC centering washers and drilled the hole out with a unibit. It was about 5 min extra work on each side.

I have the OME 861's. I have a CBI full plate bumper with a tire carrier. I carry 200-300 pounds of equipment in back at most times and it rides a little ruff, but it is truck on a full frame. If I do not have considerable weight in the back it rides pretty bad but I usually have it packed in case I get a last minute call to go wheeling.
