Which Muffler size?

I've decided to go with the Spintech Muffler (Sportsman XL) for my '03 4runner. I've heard nothing about good things about this company as they have an aggressive sound, with improved HP/TQ, and NO drone. I've done numerous searches on t4r.org and can't find what size our inlet/outlet sizes are and whether they're center/side/opposite (I should look this up under my truck actually). But it would be nice if someone with aftermarket muffler experience tells me just to make sure I dont get it wrong. Thanks!

And here's spintech's site with list of sizes: http://www.spintechmufflers.com/spintech/spintechindex.asp

spin tech is good stuff...alot of my gto buddies use their stuff.

As for sizes, all depends on how loud or not loud you want it to be. if you want to keep about the same tone as us magnaflow guys...find a muffler that equals it in size.

I believe the Sportsman XL muffler is pretty much a standard size. I was actually talking about fitment like inlet/outlet diameter in inches and whether the outlets should be center/side/opposite and so forth. They have so many different configurations I'm not sure which one to order.

I was actually looking at some of those GTO's on youtube with the Spintech, sounds mean! If GTO prices keep falling like they are I might considering picking one up a few years down the road, what a bargain they are going for even right now. No matter what people say about the styling, you can't argue with 400 hp.

I am pretty sure that the stock piping is 2 1/2" snd the stock muffler is a center in offset out configuration. I have a 2005 with a v6 and I measured the muffler can and it was 24" long. I have been looking at getting a Magnaflow 3 chamber xl muffler to cut down on the drone that comes with aftermarket mufflers.

Thanks.. just looked under the runner and indeed center in and offset out. The reason I chose the Spintech over Magnaflow (and Flowmaster) was actually because of all the complaints forum members have about the dreaded drone. I'm sure Magnaflow gives a modest increase in power while Flowmaster actually might decrease it (but nothing beats that Flowmaster sound). Spintech seems to give the best of both worlds with increased power, no drone, and an aggressive sound similar to that of Flowmaster. A negative to it is that for stainless steel, it's about $80 more, but I'm going to pass on the ss.

I'm just torn between going for the quiet Sportsman Street XL vs. the Truck/SUV which sounds comparable to a Flowmaster 40 muffler.

I'm thinking about going this route also. Have you installed the muffler yet, how does it sound, and is yours a v6 or v8
