Which one should I get?

I've currently got a 750W pioneer amp with some small cheap subs..they hit hard but the quality is super low.

I came across these today on Craigslist while searching for a new set

2 12" Kicker L7s in slot ported box

I plan to talk the guy down..let's say I do, is this a good set? I don't know too much about subs..but I see the name Kicker around A LOT so I'm just hoping this is a good set and a decent price. Thoughts?

EDIT: I've also come across 2 12in CVR Kickers in a box for 200..Would these be even better? My current subs are crazy distorted when they hit.

For what it's worth, I prefer my 10"s over the sound of 12"s.

Still hits hard but much tighter sound. I'm old so I don't really want waffley-sounding (is that a word?) bass that rattles all the trim off my truck.

Not sure what price he is asking, but I wouldn't pay 200 for 2 12's in a box used. That's not far enough from buying new to make me buy off craigslist...

Do you really need 2 12"s in a ported box? They will take alot of room, and to be honest, my single 12" alpine type R is plenty to fill the 4runner, and it takes very little room (sealed box). I would question what you really want. Don't go big because you want big numbers, go for what will sound good to you, and will maintain the cargo room that you need. Also, if you are looking for sound quality, you will tend to get tighter sound from a sealed box, not ported. Plus a sealed box will be smaller.

So my question to you is really, what are you looking for in your sound system?

BTW, what is the rest of your system? If you havn't already got an aftermarket head unit and front speakers, then don't even bother upgrading your subs.

These are very good points; I have two Alpine 10"s behind my seats because I transferred the box over from a van. I usually don't turn the subs up to more then half the levels that I could and it's plenty, so I'm sure one would be enough, and I would really like to be able to fold one back seat down and have full the length to lay stuff down.

Never had much luck with Kicker... A friend bought a 4 speed civic hatch that was used as the local stereo shops demo car... It was decked out with Kicker, and I thought it sounded like GARBAGE.

those should be good subs, and that amp should push them good. but the dual thing takes up a lot of room... i had dual 15" and decided to cut my box in half and just run one 15" on a 2600w amp, does not take up much room and can move it around easy, and have a switch on the signal wire that turns the amp on so i can turn it off if the popo shows or if i want the subs out

I've got a dual 8 in so it couldn't be that much more space? Which of those two would you recommend?

im not going to run duals again, i love having my back back. if i was you i would make two custom single boxes to go in the space between the wheel wells and the rear hatch, that what i was going to do but the 1st gen roll bar stopped that venture. i really like bass, hints the 2000w subs, so i just need one. either the 8 or 12 would work, but what are the watts on the ones you have? you could be trading down, the woofers " doesnt mean more push, can get a 8" 2000w thats the same push as my 15".
