Which rear view camera did you install in your 08 SR5?

I'm looking at installing a rear view camera in my 08 SR5. I test drove a 2010 SR5 with the rear view camera system in the mirror and it was awesome. Has anyone installed one of these in their 4th gen? Which brand is good? I'm looking for something not too expensive and easy to install that looks good and not too cheesy. Thanks,

I'm using Kenwood's camera- it's $200, but a quality piece. It fits where the factory backup camera goes- just to the left of the latch. I took off the whole piece from the tailgate and drilled two holes and bolted the camera in. The double sticky tape only lasted a few months before the camera fell out and was hanging by it's wire.

Looks good! Does the camera also come with a receiver LCD Screen? If not, what did you use for the video output device? By the way, I like the dual exhaust. Which exhaust is that?

Kenwood dnx 6960 head unit that displays the camera. Exhaust is magnaflow

I have this. Audiovox : Back Up Monitors : LCDM40 Works great, very clear and bright at night.

As with Zimm, Kenwood CCD-2000 paired with a 8120 head unit. I cut out a section of the trim piece to mount the camera as high as possible.

i went with the camera connected to the HU also, for me, the much larger screen is easier to see than the rear view mirror kind.

Love your "dual exhaust", looks great! Did you 4R originally come with a camera? I saw someone who cut 1" x 1" section off of the tailgate itself in addition to cutting the rear tailgate plastic trim piece for the camera to fit. Mine didn't come with one, but I have an original Toyota camera but never installed it (yet).

That's all you did was cut that trim piece? That's all ? I was under the impression that you have to cut sheetmetal (tailgate) to get a camera to fit?

No need to cut sheet metal, just open up the plastic under the that trim piece. You need to take the door apart anyway to run the wire- so bolt the camera in place instead of sticky tape.

Not only does the camera have night vision- the backup lights illuminate enough to see at night- if your trailer hitch is on, you can back up right into a trailer coupler on the first try!

That's a relief, thanks! I have a hitch, but it's there for decoration (I don't tow anything). I would like it to help in parking situations.
