Which Sub?

I'm looking at a few options for those that know about subwoofers.

I was going to go with another Kicker amp (400.1), but for the Amp I think I'm going to go with the new Boston GTA-400m and a 12" sub. I've read some great stuff about the amp and I'm pretty convinced of that direction.

For the sub I haven't really decided yet. I had an Infinity reference 10" before and it'd hit hard... loved that thing. I was thinking keeping it a matched system with a G212-44 this time. I do want something that'll be 2 or 4 ohm, leaving a dual voice coil sub for my options. I'm looking to have a little bass in the truck, not a competition system, around $150 at most on the sub.
Any opinions on a decent 12?

Maybe you should give crutchfield a call? Their staff is pretty knowledgeable on their products. Let them know what your setup is, which amp you wanna run, your budget and they will help select a great match for you. They helped me pick out my 10" polk. I wasn't even considering Polk and was looking JL all the way but based on my setup he recommended the polk and I"m totally happy with it.

Plus crutchfield has great Cust service, I purchased a 10" polk and a Sound Ordanance box for $149 total. (Sub was 89 box was 59) Just the other day I was on their site and saw they were running a sale on the exact same stuff I ordered. I contacted cust service and they refunded the difference which was like $45, so I got a sub and box for about $100 and it sounds great!

I've been looking at the Memphis actually. They do look great nice. The big problem is people on forums and the internet just don't seem to listen to all the systems and are so biased sometimes. Trying to sift through the crap can be hard.

I'm not looking for earth shaking power, just a decent thump to fill in what the stereo misses. keep in mind I'm only going to be pushing 400 watts through the system. I just figured the Boston G2 may be a step up from the Infinity Reference.

What about the Memphis 15-MS124d? I'm just worried that it's only 400 peak and 200RMS:
WoofersEtc.com - 15-MS124D - Memphis 12" 400 Watt DVC MClass Subwoofer
The 15-PR12D4V2 looks more suited spec-wise:
WoofersEtc.com - 15-PR12D4V2 - Memphis Power Reference 12" DVC 4 ohm Subwoofer

How would these Memphis subs compare with the G2?

Opinions?

go with kicker

ive been threw many thousands of dollars worth of car audio systems cause i absolutely love subs. i would highly recomend kicker. you said you want what ur stock radio is missing so go with kicker comps 12s. i used to have a pair of them and i mean they pound loud(if you want them too) for the price. they say 400max rms i think but i had 1200watts goin to mine an they never gave up. great price an great quality. kicker all day!

I looked into it and both crutchfield and a local shop recomended the Polk DXi 124. For the price it's very clean bass and I was sold after listening to the demo set. With a discount from a friend I got it for about $50 (can't beat that) and it's amazing!

I got it all hooked up this weekend. The only thing I'm missing is the remote for the gain on the amp. Crutchfield was sold out of this, so it's going in later. Over all, after having a kicker 500.1 before I'd say this amp is VERY comprable even being 100 watts less in rating. I'm running 2 ohm giving 400RMS and it's running great! It'll shake the truck easily... The bass is nice and deep and very clean. It's just right for what I was looking for. I'm loving it so far.

I did something similar being I used a Kicker 10"comp sub & Fierce Audio - XED 10" Single Ported Subwoofer box & the Kicker ZX4001 amp with a remote gain controller.

Sounds good enough for me & still using the factory Stereo & JBL Speakers

Alpine Type-R Dual 4 Ohm. Best bang for your buck.

I would HIGHLY recommend you research this more, browse this forum a little, you'll learn a lot:

I am Sorry to all you Alpine Type R fans- THEY SUCK! They HAVE to be ported and if you hit it with just a little more then rated they go POP! I have 3 of these in my car at one point and sold them for FREE cuz they sucked. Bought 1 kicker L7 12" and it hit so much harder I upgraded to 2 15's
