Which Sunroof wire for hardwiring radar?

I want to hard wire my valentine1 using the power from my sunroof lead, but I'm not sure which is the power. Can anyone tell me the color of the wire going into the sunroof that is the main power lead? If you have pictures, even better. I attached the best picture I could snap of the sunroof wiring harness. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't wire it to the sunroof just in case you mess it up.

Go and buy a cigarette lighter adapter. They split the cigarette adapter into two holes or more... Usually they have wire on one end. Cut it off. YOu have to test out which one is positive and which one is negative..... the middle button of the cigarette adapter is positive and the outer cylinder has to be negative... run the wiring down your A pillar.

I installed a inline fuse of 10 A and connected it to my accessories wire off my truck... So now when I turn on my truck it turns on and it's fused so if there was any problems it would blow the fuse.... Directly connecting it to the sunroof, because the sunroof has probably a 20-30 amp fuse.... it could cause a major electrical melt in the radar detector wiring or in the sunroof and that can be bad... I'll take some pictures of my wiring and post them up for you.
 
Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and take it to Circuit City to install it. From what I hear, they do a pretty good job. At least then I'll know that it was done correctly.

Don't take it to Circuit City. It's so easy to do yourself. You can buy a cord that can be run to the fuse box for most Radar Detectors. I have a Bel and ordered a cable from their website.
All you do is tuck the wire under the head board and then down the pillar to the fuse box. I used an empty 15 amp fuse and then grounded the ground wire to a screw . It took all of 10 minutes. It's really easy.
 
It may be easy, but I don't want to mess anything else up. I already lost both retention things for my overhead assembly (see post in general discussion). So now the front of my map light/sunroof assembly hangs down a bit. If you could give me very detailed instructions, leaving out no steps, then maybe I would feel confident enough to do it. Otherwise, paying Circuit City $50-80 is worth the piece of mind. Thanks.

Ok, ben.. I work at Best buy... sit tight...and I'll take pictures of step by step to getting it installed into your truck... ok? by thursday I should have pictures of it installed up for you.

it is very easy to do, i did it in my 1990 celica, just use a voltmeter to see which wire is hot when the key is on and splice into it. I never had any problems. by the way toyota doesn't just make good 4runners, that celica had 209k on it when i sold it and still ran like a champ.

Ben... I'll have the pictures by 10:00pm tonight I have to get some sockets to take off my A Pillar again......:-)

Good luck with the install.. after you take it apart once.. you'll become a pro at it. Make sure you take some pics of your install so when other people need to hardwire theirs.. they (I) know who to ask. :D

I installed (hardwired) a V1 with the remote display. I don't remember the wire I tapped into but it was from the sunroof and it was a switched power suppy so the radar turns off with the key. If you have a voltmeter, you can test each wire (what I did to find it) and tap that wire. Make sure it's a 12v and not 5v.
